NT has received its first two committments from JC FB players according to the the Fort Worth Star Telegram

Ray Loren, Coffeyville DB 6-1, 195 from Overland Park KS, Soph Stats: 33 unassisted tackles, 12 assisted tackles for a total of 45. credited with 1.5 sacks and 1 tackle for a loss. He was HM all Conference in the Jayhawk Conference. We had narrowed the DB position down to 4 possible players and Loren was one of the four.

TE Brian Carlson, Kilgore College, 6-5, 255. Soph stats: 6 receptions for 40 yards with a 20 yard longest. Obviously used primarily as a blocker.

I feel good about both of these signings, especially if Loren can play corner at all.  From what I'm reading in the MGR the tight end signing may be the bigger news of the two though.

It was noted in another thread that Chaney had left the team. Is this correct? If so, this is a good pick up. Have the coaches considered moving Harmon to D-End? He's a big kid, pretty athletic, but doesn't have very good hands to be playing tight end.

In the past, they have played him in OL. They may choose to do that since it's a position that he has played in the past.

When can we get a profile with pictures, high school & college stats of the "unlisted" third Commitment.

I'll officially nickname him "Big 3" for now. ph34r.gif

He weighs 270. He is coming in for more help blocking. Charlie is still a little on the light side. Carlson will come in and basically be an extra linemen. He almost outweighs some of our starting linemen and does outweigh some reserves. I think it was an excellent pickup that will help improve the running game.

I can't wait to see who is next! How many ints and pass breakups did Carlson have this past year. And do we know how many years of eligibility these two have?

Brian Carlson is a TE doesn't play defense as far as I know. He will primarily be a blocker not a receiver but did catch 6 passes for 40 yards.
