The game originally scheduled at Houston is now at y'alls place.

Here's the press release:

Houston Moves North Texas Men's Basketball Game To Denton

Cougars play in Denton to allow UH fans to attend both men's basketball game and Fort Worth Bowl

Dec. 5, 2005

Houston, Texas- - In an unprecedented move, University of Houston Director of Athletics Dave Maggard announced Monday that the UH men's basketball game against North Texas that was originally scheduled to be played in Hofheinz Pavilion on December 23 has been moved to Denton, Texas. The game will tip off at 1:00 p.m.

"In an effort to allow our fans to attend both the UH men's basketball game and the Fort Worth Bowl, we arranged to play our men's basketball game at North Texas," Maggard said. "We have been assured that tickets already purchased through (the UH Ticket Office) will be honored at the game in Denton. Those people who are unable to attend the basketball game there can return their tickets and receive full credit for them."

Houston head coach Tom Penders is looking at the move as a way for his team to support the Cougar football program and accommodate UH fans.

"This makes it easy for our fans to attend both games," Penders said. "It also goes hand in hand with our philosophy of playing any school, anytime and anywhere."

The Cougars are 3-1 this season following last week's upset victories at No. 25 LSU and over No. 13 Arizona.

Gotta love that attitude.

Wow, that means we are going to play a school record 16 home games this season with the Nichols St. game being moved to Denton also. This is a very good move by Houston's AD. I wasn't going to be able to make the Houston game so this is very exciting!

Awesome! It will be great to get a name opponent at the SuperPit this season! It will definitely be a tough game though as Houston has already beat a couple of top 25 teams and is looking pretty good early in the season.

Excellent! I was going to be in the Houston area the week of the game, and thought that I might catch the game down there before returning for Christmas. Now I'll just return to North Texas on Friday morning! Good fit for me! Anyone recall the Cougars ever playing in The Pit?

damn, and I was planning on going to the game in Houston since I'll be there over the winter break, now I have to miss it. sad.gif

Ditto here. I only live 1-1/2 hr from Houston. But that's OK. At least we should get a good crowd at the Super Pit.

It's two days before Christmas. No students, most people who are traveling are already on the road.

Should be a sea of RED, with UH in town at the FW Bowl.

Aww yeah.  See you soon green.

Nice win over Arizona! I had a few UofA friends in H-Town that went to the game all ready for a blow out. It was funny to talk to them afterwards.
