As stated this years recruiting class will be very important to DD. This is his first year with the new facilities in place. There is no reason why this should not be his best class ever.

NO Reason?

Tulsa and LaTech beat us bad....we recruit against them heavily...in the FW area 50 they have 4 prospects, NT has -0-

NMSt under new coach recruiting our area heavily. in the FW area 50 they have 3 prospects NT has -0-

UTEP winning record under price, exciting game plan, bowl in 1st year..we recruit against them heavily...in the FW area 50 they have considering or committed 8 players out of the 50 NT has -0-

Sorry, I meant this NEEDS to be his best class ever. Compared to what he has had to recruit with. There is no excuse for him to fall on his face this recruiting season.

There are several prospects that he needs to land this year, whereas in the past we would be in on them but would miss out.

We need to get Brown, Coffman, and Skillern. Those are the main 3 I would like to see here next year. At least up to this point.

Just got a response back from T-Mac(Tim MacMahon). Go ahead and write back with questions and comments as he will most likely respond. Invited him over to GMG.com to drop a few lines about what he thinks of NT football and its progress.

Heck, UTEP already has commits from TWO local Denton high school players.

Wonder how anyone thinks that DD can turn his recruiting around in one year? Anyone notice that most players that are considered hot prospects have already committed? DD's recruiting like the last four years will mostly be limited to picking the best players that do not have any other non Belt IA offers. The only difference this year is that NT will most likely even be outrecruited by the other Belt members for area players.

Since the link will go to tomorrow's blog (http://sportssay.beloblog.com/) sometime in the next 5-6 hours, here's the key comments in case anyone missed this and wants to read them later. This writer is an NT alumn.

"Coach Darrell Dickey has rightfully been requesting two things for years: winnable nonconference games and improved facilities. He's finally been given both.

The Mean Green failed miserably to take advantage of the winnable nonconference games, getting humiliated by Tulsa and Louisiana Tech. If that's going to happen, UNT might as well just play money games at BCS schools.

UNT better take advantage of its new athletic center during the recruiting process. Dickey and his staff no longer can say recruits aren't considering the Mean Green because of Class 3A-quality facilities. But nobody on the area top 100 list is considering UNT.

Dickey deserves credit for winning the sorry Sun Belt the previous four seasons, but a 2-9 season on the heels of unprecendented preseason hype for the program was a huge step back."

AND...this fun response from Baylor grad/ Cowboy's beat writer Matt Mosley:

"Mr. Moderator,

Is there a feature in our blog software that can filter out Sun Belt-related entries?

Ed. note: I'll check with the tech people."
