by the way, when we had the ball with 3:30 or so left and the game tied, had anyone else imagined the scenario of driving down the field for baz to win the game in his final game at fouts? i honestly thought i was profeciing the whole thing and thought for sure it was going to happen...then the draw with j.mitchel!

i'm sure this call has been beat up on this board all weekend, but i was just checking to see if i was the only one who completely beleived that that was how it would play out.

I have put that very scene on this board many times. Nick will really be missed by all of us every saturday, but his family will continue to be a part of the traditions we now have here. I talked to his mom again Saturday, and predicted either the Saints or the Lions would be the first to snatch him up. Of course I would sure like to see him in Dallas, but Nickie will get invitations to several NFL training camps. I truly think we see him on Sunday next season. No matter who he plays for next year, there is one reality for this year...

If Nick kicked in Dallas this season, the Cowboys are 9-2 right now!!!

Congrat to Nick on a wonderful career at NT...I wish him nothing but the best in the future...

On to our future though...I have heard that the ex-OU kicker, the one that was benched during the Baylor game of 2004 has enrolled at NT and will walkon next year...anyone else heard that, and will Demario be eligible for a transfer next year?

The draw was one of the craziest things i had seen until the very next play on 4th down when they tried to throw a 2 yard out pass needing 8 or 9 yards. Ramon is the king of surprises! (as in I'm SURPRISED he is an OC)

Baz'z mom told me that we have a kicker for next year who is awesome.  She didnt tell me who though.  I will enjoy watching Nick kick on Sundays next year.

i've heard about this guy too. i think his name was chris george or john james or something like that. i thought he was from texas lutheran or hardin simmons. obviously, i don't remember much, but i heard he was good.

I talked to Baz mom after the game on Saturday. She is a neat lady. I had visited with her on some trips to away games. She had tears in her eyes because his North Texas career was over but promised to be in Denton for every home game next year. I'll bet she keeps her promise, too.

baz's dad and karen should be at the NT games next year, too... he hopes to renew his season tix...

i'm just happy i'll still be able to sit next to them, even if we can't root for nick.

i'm confident nick'll do well, either with the NFL, or with school... whichever he chooses (or chooses him!) biggrin.gif

yeah... i started a tradition of sneaking past the yellow-coated ones to sit in front of them... since i won't be a student next year, maybe i'll get season tix in that spot to make it all official-like tongue.gif

      I wouldn't call Cam Skattebo part of the problem. He left an FCS school after two seasons and joined Arizona State when Kenny Dillingham became the coach. Even though ASU went 3-9 that year Skattebo was adamant about staying for this season because he believed in what they were building. Now he's Nick Saban's "favorite player" (as he said on GameDay), he single-handedly made the 12-team playoff not suck for four epic quarters and overtime, and he's a senior with no more eligibility looking like a second-day NFL draft pick.

      Moore Leads UNT to New Year’s Day Victory Over Tulsa

      DENTON, Texas – A season-high 24 points from Jaaucklyn Moore led the UNT women’s basketball team to an 84-78 victory over Tulsa inside The Super Pit on Wednesday. With Kyla Deck unavailable for the game, Moore made her first start since UNT’s win over Northwestern State on Nov. 20. The senior guard delivered by tying her career high at North Texas, matching her 24-point performance against Grambling State last season when she surpassed 1,000 career points. “Jaaucklyn Moore came in and started the game and was huge today,” head coach Jason Burton said. “It starts with what she did offensively, but she had to guard Delanie Crawford in the second half with Desiree Wooten in foul trouble. It was a tremendous game from her with how she played on both sides of the ball.” Moore was an integral part of the Mean Green taking an early lead in the first quarter and never giving it up. North Texas scored the first 12 points of the game, holding Tulsa scoreless for the first 6:04 of the game. However, the Golden Hurricane offense came to life in the second quarter, putting together a 13-2 run behind a pair of 3-pointers from Elise Hill and another one from Crawford. After UNT took a 38-32 lead into halftime, the Mean Green outscored Tulsa 26-16 in the third quarter sparked by a pair of big runs in the period. As the teams traded buckets in a fast-paced game, UNT was able to extend its lead to 16 points early in the fourth quarter and hold on late to improve to 10-4 this season and 2-0 in conference play. North Texas received valuable minutes and performances from several pieces Wednesday, including 18 points from Tommisha Lampkin. Ereauna Hardaway added 13 points and six rebounds, while Aniyah Johnson neared a double double with nine points and seven boards. Despite Crawford leading Tulsa with 22 points, the Mean Green made it tough on the Preseason All-AAC First Team selection, holding her to 9-of-20 overall 2-of-8 from 3-point range. Hill also scored 22 points for the Golden Hurricane with six 3-pointers on the day. North Texas will look to remain unbeaten in the American Athletic Conference when it travels to Memphis on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip off.
