From football scoop.....

MTSU names: Memphis OC Randy Fichtner, Tulsa DC Todd Graham, Vandy RBs Kenny Carter, ULM OC Todd Berry, N. Texas OC Ramon Flanigan, TCU OC Mike Schultz and Cleveland Browns QB Coach Rip Scherer

With the "right" hire we'd keep our unbeaten streak against the MUTS for years to come. wink.gif

IMHO, RF has been a little hand cuffed on the play selection at UNT. If, as some of you have alluded to is correct, RF calls about 3 plays for each down to give to DD and if DD chooses a predominate run offense is that RF's fault if 1/3 or 2/3 are pass plays??

Just curious, does anyone know the percentage of 1st call plays DD actually selects from RF choice of plays??

Do we know how much "leash" that DD gives RF in calling a game with all/most of his 1st choice plays????

There has to be some balance in all this.

For all we know if DD is the final arbitrator in the choices that RF sends down to the field then RF could possibly be more successful under a more open Coach.

RF, then, could be a jewel under the right set of circumstances.

Part of his frustration this year could have been from RF and DD in disagreement on play selection. Who knows??

well if RF has to tell DD then DD tells the runner who then tells the QB, that could explain all the delay of game penalties and waste of timeouts. Although it was not a problem for Phillips. ph34r.gif

If Flanigan and Dickey want out... let them out!  We need someone who wants to be at North Texas.

I really don't blame Flanigan for wanting to take a head coaching job, it is a step up from being an assistant almost anywhere you go.

in this order:

VERY GOOD

VERY GOOD

GOOD

NOT GOOD

NOT GOOD

VERY GOOD

SO SO

Fichtner/Graham and Schultz would all fit..and are all very good coor. If I was a MUT(S) i would vote for Fichtner.

Flani will not leave NT...unless he gets some head coaching job in the SWAC...he would only be appealing there...An African-American Conference, who give young black coaches oppt, where the competition in below average. Not a shot at Flani, but he would be a great role model there (unless of course-someone commented on his play calling). I wish all the luck in the world to Coach Flani, and if he gets this job or any other will thank him for his time and hard work here...
