Honest tactical question here…
This is an honest question from a guy who isn’t paid big bucks to coach football but does coach other sports that require true tactics to be successful with a mixed match team. So if you know you have a bad defense, wouldnt it be tactically sound to do whatever you can to make sure your defense is off the field as much as possible? Wouldn’t it behoove you to not play hurry up ball and instead eat up as much clock as possible with each drive you have? Am I the only one that thinks we have a HC that enjoys shooting himself on the foot with these tactics? -

if you get what you want
It was sustained until he lost half the coaching staff to higher prestige/paying jobs. Hiring that OC from FCS and firing Reff to bring in Bowen ultimately cost him his job. Things were on the way up once he had Bennett calling the defense but it was too late by then. Too many on here had already decided that the improvement wasn’t fast enough to merit the salary so here we are possibly sitting at home during bowl season again just 2 years removed from being in our conference game. -

Same. What I would give to see Coach Cobbs as the HC with a run first scheme. Add in a competent 3-4 defense and we’d be set.- 1
