Here are the Bios and contact information for the nine BOR.

Appointed by the governor of Texas, the UNT Board of Regents is the governing body of the University of North Texas system, which consists of the University of North Texas and the UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth.

The nine regents are:

John Robert "Bobby" Ray

Mr. Ray is chairman of the Board of Regents. Mr. Ray has served on the board since 1995. His term expires May 22, 2007. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from UNT. He is the president of Goodman Family of Builders. Mr. Ray lives in Plano.

Charles "Chuck" Beatty

Mr. Beatty was appointed to the board in February 2002. He will serve a term expiring May 22, 2005. He received his bachelor of science degree in physical education from the University of North Texas in 1976. He is mayor of Waxahachie and field director/director of urban scouting for the Circle Ten Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He lives in Waxahachie.

Marjorie B. Craft

Ms. Craft was appointed to the board in June 2000 to fill an unexpired term. She was reappointed in 2001 to a term that ends May 22, 2007. She received her bachelor's degree from UNT. She is an independent business consultant, involved with helping clients break into new markets in the food service area. She lives in DeSoto.

Tom Lazo, Sr.

Mr. Lazo has served on the Board since 1999. His current term expires May 22, 2005. He received an associate's degree in applied science from El Centro College. He is president and chief executive officer of Lazo Technologies, Inc., and Custom Programming Services, Inc. He lives in Dallas.

Robert A. Nickell

Mr. Nickell was appointed to the board in October 2000 to fill an unexpired term. He was reappointed in 2003 to a term that ends May 22, 2009. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in finance from the University of North Texas. He is an independent investor with a history of entrepreneurial success in wholesale distribution.

Burle Pettit

Mr. Pettit has served on the board since 1995. His term expires May 22, 2007.He received his bachelor's degree in journalism from UNT and also attended Texas Tech. He is editor emeritus of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. He lives in Lubbock.

C. Dan Smith

Mr. Smith was appointed to the board in February 2002. He will serve a term expiring May 22, 2005. He received his bachelor of business administration degree from the University of North Texas in 1962. He is the president and owner of CDS Capital Group, a conglomerate including C-Koe Aluminum, Inc., CDS Resources Inc., Damar Energy, Diamond Petroleum and ESI Group. He lives in Plano.

Gayle W. Strange

Mrs. Strange was appointed to the board in 1997 and reappointed in 2003. Her term expires May 22, 2009. She holds bachelor's degrees in English from UNT and journalism from TWU. She is a rancher, a land developer, a writer and a researcher. She lives in Denton.

Rice M. Tilley, Jr.

Mr. Tilley was appointed to the board in October 2003. He will serve a term expiring May 22, 2009. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University in Virginia, his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law and a Master of Laws degree in Taxation from New York University School of Law. He is a senior member of the international law firm of Haynes and Boone, LLP.

I did contact him by email and sent him a link to the Ramon Flannigan thread. I put this on the board in case anyone else wanted to do so.

If you are concerned about our OC's conduct here is your opportunity to express a complaint where it might do some good.
