DENTON, Texas (AP) - Tyrell Fenroy rushed for 102 yards and scored his third touchdown on a 1-yard run with 1:10 remaining as Louisiana-Lafayette defeated North Texas 31-28 Saturday night.

Quarterback Jerry Babb had a career-high 133 yards and a touchdown to lead Louisiana-Lafayette's rushing offense, which entered the game ranked 10th nationally and finished with 327 yards. Babb had 109 passing yards.

North Texas running back Patrick Cobbs had a season-high 197 yards and three second-half touchdowns.

Fenroy had the key play on the drive that ended with his touchdown, catching a 19-yard pass on third-and-9 that put Louisiana-Lafayette (4-5, 3-2 Sun Belt) at the North Texas 32-yard line. The 88-yard march lasted 8:46.

On the ensuing kickoff, Jonathon Vance sealed the win for the Ragin' Cajuns by recovering a Johnny Quinn fumble.

Louisiana-Lafayette's Sean Comiskey broke a 21-21 tie with a 22-yard field goal on the first play of the fourth quarter, but Cobbs gave North Texas (2-6, 2-2) its first lead at 28-24 on a 9-yard run with 9:44 remaining.

Cobbs had erased a 21-7 Louisiana-Lafayette lead with a 59-yard touchdown on the second play of the second half and an 8-yard scoring run midway through the third quarter.

North Texas' first-half futility continued as the Ragin' Cajuns built leads of 7-0 after the first quarter and 21-7 at halftime. The Mean Green have been outscored 48-2 in the first quarter and 150-21 in the first half this season.

Louisiana-Lafayette scored on its opening possession for the second consecutive game and the fourth time in its last five on Fenroy's 6-yard run. Babb added a 4-yard scoring run early in the second quarter on a drive given new life by a UNT penalty when the Ragin' Cajuns were punting.

North Texas scored its first touchdown in the first half this season on a 27-yard pass from Daniel Meager to Quinn that brought North Texas within 14-7 with 6:56 left.

Louisiana-Lafayette answered with Fenroy's 7-yard scoring run 1:22 before halftime.

North Texas running back Jamario Thomas left the game at halftime with a strained hamstring and did not return. He is expected to play next week at Florida Atlantic.
