Excellent post..........

You must be retired to have that much time on your hand to get this post out laugh.gif

As stated I found it on the CUSA board. It was easy, but yes I'm retired. I'd sure enjoy it more if I were a lot younger cool.gif

Texas A&M has to win 2 of their next three, because the win against Texas St. does not count towards bowl eligibility since they are not D-1.

Aggie fans can all ROT! You aren't going to win 2 of three!

I thought they made it OK for 1AA teams to count towards bowl eligibility last year.. am I mistaken?

It really wont matter for A&M either way, because they arent going to win @tech, @OU, or at the Tacklebox against Texas. Fran may be looking for a new gig after this year. And if he charms his way into another year, another record like this next year and you can GUARANTEE he will looking for a new employer

Good job keeping current on NCAA rules...

Glad we have a nice Big XII board going this week. Anyone have a line on Baylor/Texas? wink.gif

Fran may or may not be a decent coach, but he sure knows how to screw over schools and players. Somewhere Alabama, TCU, and even Pittsburgh St. are smiling.

"Please O Lord: Let aTm keep Fran. Amen."

I wonder if he'll be interested in coming a little further North for a paycut? unsure.gif

I think most of our fans would prefer to not have a prostitute coaching our team only to hike their skirt upto the next available suitor.

If Fran goes it is just karma on his part for the way he screwed over Bama. huh.gif

I tend to agree, and originally was going to post something similar in response.

I think he is overrated and I prefer a coach that shows a bit more character. I wont elaborate, but thats my opinion from the 'bama thing and a friend of mine who played for him ph34r.gif

Again this is only my opinion and should not be regarded as anything more

Agree - have a friend who played for him at TCU and still gets pissed whenever his name is mentioned....

His "loyalty" shtick is often rehearsed, but never followed.

That and he seems to entertain himself by seeing how many different formations he can run a draw or delay for a 2 yard loss...

Hey, maybe he should coach here!!!

Unfortunately, just because a team is "bowl eligible" does not mean you should start packing your bags.

Only one team from the Sun Belt is going to a bowl. I think last year another team had the 6 wins but stayed home (no invite). I think Troy went to a bowl last year, but they were not part of the conference yet.

I'm pretty sure Troy was part of our conference last year. The reason two teams got invited was because the Big XII and other conferences could not provide enough bowl-eligible teams. I think you're right about only one SBC team going to a bowl game this year, though. Our conference's overall lackluster OOC record makes any eligible teams less attractive. Plus, with the entire conference rated so low, the bowl eligibility doesn't look nearly as impressive from a bowl's point of view.

Actually it was because Clemson and South Carolina got into a fight at the end of the year and their administration made a classy move and decided to not let them participate in the bowls they would have been invited to... but either way, your point still holds true!

I will be impressed if any of the sunbelt teams go to a bowl game. La-Monroe isnt a lock just yet.

To me, and correct me if I am wrong (which I have been corrected before), bowl games have lost their glamor only because about 1/2 the D-1 teams go. I really do not like to watch a couple of 6-5 teams play..... unless it is UNT in the NO bowl.

Unless Hades freezes over will we ever see a true D-1 playoff system similar to D-1AA. Now that would be worth watching.

The only positive is that the bowl teams do get a payout, win or loose.

how can we go 4-0 and get a bowl... we only have 3 games left... what am i missing?

The date the post was originally written on. It was before the LaLa game.

An almost funny (and the same time strange) irony of this Fall (yet sort of a backhand slap to the one who represents the SBC) is how the one year our Mean Green will apparently not go to the New Orleans Bowl it is not going to be held in, uh, New Orleans. blink.gif

Hopefully, both the city of New Orleans and the Mean Green will be back on the same page in 2006.

And here's the "kicker."  If ULL wins the SBC title, will they fill their own stadium for the NO Bowl game?

I would be really shocked if we didn't. You'd see a lot more of the "casual fans" come out for such a game that otherwise would find something else to do on gameday. Plus, its the only game in town; so we don't have to compete with the local LSU fans. I really think you see an overflow crowd if it happened. But, all this is speculation unless we can finish off the season with 2 wins. So, without getting the cart in front of the horse, we need to focus on FIU and continue to win one at a time.

Shof

P.S. Any excuse for cajun tailgating is a good excuse biggrin.gif
