Down year for UNT = down year for SBC

This is pathetic. When the top team in the conference standings has a loss to a I-AA team, that's not good. Belt teams have had their chances: MUTS-Akron, ULL-UCF, us and Tulsa. Imagine if 2003 had been UNT's down year and they'd finished tied with MUTS and ULL for the title. That's what this year is. And I bet the NCAA would just adore having another 5-6 bowl team. That said, I think the Mean Green are in the hunt as anyone for a trip to the Lafayette Bowl.

ASU set a school record for penalties and still only lost to Oklahoma State by 10.

A down year will happen to every good team. You need that year to reload. TCU is a perfect example, as they had several good years followed by a down year last year. Other than the SMU game they are once again having a good year and ranked in the top 25. Its tough unless youre a top BCS program to be good for several years in a row. It's basically 3 yrs up 1 yr to reload.
