North Texas, which has wins over regionally ranked opponents SMU and Rice this year, has never had a national ranking in any poll until this season.

The Mean Green has been ranked in the central region poll by Soccer Buzz Magazine in two out of the past three years, but never attained a national ranking.

North Texas is 9-2-2 but has not lost a game since August 27, going 9-0-2 in their last 11 games. The Mean Green has two players that are in the top 20 nationally in individual statistics.

Heather Hutyra is seventh in goals, goals per game, and 11th in points per game while Kandice Ellis is 11th in save percentage and 20th in goals against average.

North Texas is a perfect 4-0 in the Sun Belt Conference and they return to action on Friday, Oct. 14 against Arkansas State to begin a three-game homestand.

This is great to hear. I am not a huge soccer fan, but I know we have a few soccer crazies here on this board. It would be cool if we could mark a couple of games on the remaining schedule to have a small tailgate before a game hence a few more fans for them.

Every sport we succeed in helps us with conference affiliation.

I think there are over 300 division 1 girls soccer programs. So a forty something rating is equivalent to a top 25 football rating with only 119 teams. As I noted in another post what is even more amazing is that this teams starts 0 seniors, 3 juniors, 4 sophomores and 4 freshmen.

Are the games played at the intramurals field? If not, where? I'm game for heading out to some of the remaining ones. This is awesome and remember, THEY BEAT SMU!!!

Our soccer games are out on the intramural fields by Peterbilt. Take 35E west/north/whatever and exit Bonnie Brae/Airport Rd. Turn left at the light at Bonnie Brae and go under the highway and follow the road around to the right, over the over pass. Keep going and you'll see the soccer fields on your right, right before you get to Peterbilt. The actual street it's on is called Precision.

Zeke mentioned tailgating...that would be a really great thing to see out there! There's not really a parking lot out there, everyone kind of parks in the street, but that would be great. Soccer needs all the support it can get. These girls are doing really great and are really fun to watch. If you guys are planning on coming to a game, you may want to bring your own tailgate chairs or blankets to sit on because bleacher space is limited. Bring your kids too, especially if they're soccer fans, because we always recruit ball girls (and maybe boys?) to help out during the games. Hope to see some of you guys out there!

Freekin' awesome! I need to go see them play....

GMG!

Thanks for making my next point:

Put a winning product on the field and people will go see it... what a novel concept... anybody in the Athletic department listening?

The quickest way to put butts in the seats/build interest in a program (which in turn brings in CASH) is to win! Build a top 25 or even top 50 football and/or basketball program and the attendance problems will take care of themselves at a school with 32k students (IMO). Denton is a bigger sports town than many would have you believe, people just need something to be excited about.

Anyways, rant completed.

great job ladies! Hope yall keep the streak going!

Not to sound mean or anything....but is 40th in the nation really worth crowing about??????? smile.gif

It would almost be if our Football team was a Top 25. You have to think outside the box and realize that our school is recruting better athletes. To answer your question..Yes!

The answer is YES smile.gif

Here's a post by Eagle-96 from another board.

Top Drawer does a top 40 for soccer. There are 308 Division 1 womens soccer teams so 40 out of 308 is a very good ranking.
