theres no fan support

That's not true. There is not a huge fan support like at UT, but there is fan support. To walk to the locker rooms after a game and not stay out for the school song is poor sportsmanship. High school kids have to do it. It's part of being a part of the whole team (university). What if the band just took off after the game and didn't even play. Some fans left, yes, but that's no reason to walk off after a defeat. Have some pride. Show a little character. The "no fan support" argument is weak.

okay, its pretty sad that everyone is spending so much time arguing about whether or not the team stayed for the school song. maybe they were instructed to leave, maybe not...WHO CARES! maybe if we could fill our small concrete high school stadium to capacity each week then they would stay. thats the sad part. theres no fan support.

Gamebreaker-

Do you even attend UNT games?

No, we don't fill Fouts every game, but the fan support is there- and getting better. The last two home games had about 22k and 17k respectively, I think that's fan support.

Besides, shouldn't you be busy supporting some other team?

The team is asked to hurry because the team and all the equipment has to transported back to the new athletic center. The team was bused over to conserve parking spaces for the fans and had to be bused back to get their cars after they showered. All the equipment is then collected and taken back to the athletic center.

The Alma Mater is not that long and I too wish the team would stay after EVERY game. This has been going on for years now; however, we see it more right now because there are so few good things to see and talk about.

At the end of the day go out and whip the boys in Florida. We need a win around here in a BAD way!

And then, after the game, win or lose, get your tails over in front of that handful of Mean Green fans that spent their own time and money to make a 2866 mile round trip to be there to support you and let them know you appreciate them.

Or you can walk off down the tunnel without ever acknowledging those supporters.

Your choice.

Here is what I find funny about this discussion: Why should anyone on here think that DD leads this team? We all know about his emotion on the sidelines, we all know that he can't seem to control or punish any of his teams when it comes to how the react in the form of penalties on the field, so why would be expect him to do anything out of the norm of these things.

If he doesn't make the team stand there, so be it. Frankly, it shouldn't take DD making his team stand there....they should enough pride playing for the university to take it upon themselves to do it. This shows that there are NO leaders on this team. Maybe the seniors should step up and do it. Or, how about Cobbs - I hear what a leader he is, where is his leadership?

I don't agree with a lot of what DD does, but these guys need to step up as players.

I noticed that they turned their backs at the Tulsa game too. I don't care if they win by 50 or lose by 100, they owe it to their fans and friends to stay for the Alma Mater. Especially at home. On the road, I can halfway understand not staying, but at home STAY FOR THE ALMA MATER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The alma mater is one minute and 15 seconds long. They can afford to give that much time back to the fans....

This subject has really made me upset both now and in the past. There is no excuse that the coaches and players cannot do this for the fans. mad.gif

---Agree.. they should stay and stand for the Alma Matre...... after that leaving may be best so to not hear the abuse some people might dish out. Most universities head for the house after the game, not stand around.

--- It has always bothered me when a team (anywhere) is not respectful to their or the opposing school song or National Anthem. The Alma Matre is not all about sports or sports teams either.

Surprise.....Surprise.....Surprise.....

The team decided to choose the latter, and cowered off to the locker room without ever acknowledging the couple hundred fans that made that effort to support them.

Shame on them.
