34 - 17 in Hattiesburg? Yikes! And USM returns Dustin Almond at QB?

Not only noticed it, but thought about how our ability to recruit against them gets harder and harder each week. They have great academics and now a competitive program.

Not only noticed it, but thought about how our ability to recruit against them gets harder and harder each week.  They have great academics and now a competitive program.

But having read some of the Southwest region CUSA school message boards this last summer (including Tulsa's) they all know what is going on at our Eagle Point Campus with our construction and that has more than just a few of them more than just mildly concerned about us as future "tougher" competition on the recruiting trails.

Whatever Dickey and Company did the year they recruited all those Texas state top 100 recruits that carried this program for most of the last 5 years (and are now all gone) I do hope they are getting back to duplicating that same recruiting mode of operation again.

Tulsa is gonna surprise some people this year.

Facilities help, but there's nothing better than winning to help recruiting! When you're recruiting a kid, if you had to choose, would you rather stress facilities or a winning season? I know which one I would go for.

Tulsa is 3-3, killed by Minn., hung with an average OU team, lost to an average Houston team, won over down USM and in OT over a down Memphis team this year. Nothing special that we should have lost by 52 points at home to. mad.gif

      No, my point being University-wide apathy. That’s worse than just a scheduling Uh-Oh by the AD. University-wide Apathy is what caused this. If you, or me, or FlyOnTheWall or Harry, SUMG or…fill in the blank_____________ bleeding-green-alum were in on decision making, we’d had made sure last April, last May, June, July, August, whenever the schedules are planned for the upcoming season, we would have made damn sure tournament time in March for the SP is kept open, or flexible. It would keep us up at night after we were off the clock, making us sick over stewing about it till we got it right. And if we were told no, we would go up the chain till we found a YES. Instead, the university , not simply the AD,…told the entire college basketball watching world that The University Of North Texas does not care about athletics, and told our teams and our donating alumni to go pound sand.       Yes,….all effing day. Now, they know how tuff of a team we really have, winning in Stoolwater where it was 5 on 7. We beat Ok State, the refs,….and the North Texas Administration. Rick

      So, how was the luncheon ?

      Solution. Build a state of the art 6,000 seat arena prioritized for athletics on the Frisco campus and get sports city USA, Frisco involved. Frisco is ripe to turn Mean Green. That city will embrace family entertainment and fun things to do across the year. At the watch party at Wings Over Frisco I swear some of the tables were made up of UNT Frisco students. They were scooping up the pennants and cooling towels couldn’t believe they were free. It was so cool to see students excited to rep their University. All you need to do is replace 4,500 Denton diehards with 5,000 Frisco family residents, students, and the same traveling alumni. Who do we lose the Denton campus students. It would suck on that front but you could get 5,000 regulars in Frisco in a 6,000 seat arena with some crafty marketing to a hungry city environment. Make UNT basketball Frisco’s team. Radical yea. Deserved yea. Prioritized absolutely. GMG
