Yeah but this ain't America. This is the UNT board and for someone to make comments like that about their own is as far below classy and acceptable as you can get.

I agree with you about the level of class displayed by Shaft. I was embarrased by the fact that we both support the same school after the comment about Drew. I do however beleive that Shaft has the right to say it and then deal with the comments that everyone else on the board makes about the assinine comment he/she made.

As long as someone is not attacking someone else or spewing profane or hateful language, I say let 'em post.

I fully support the moderators/owners of this board right to do what they want.

It's their toy, that they let other use, free of charge. (I think that's pretty cool.)

My rights as an American have nothing to do with privately owned message boards. The Right to Free speech is designed for speaking out aginst the government in public places and settings.

But I'm also not appologizing for my post. The board was full of the sky is falling threads, and feel-good-drink-the-green-kool aid threads. I said something controversial to shake things up.

Could be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Controversial is one thing. So is a "sky is falling" thread. Speaking ill of the deceased is quite another. Especially a good kid like AS. The fact you chose to relate your comment with what anyone else was saying is just as dumb as you actually deciding to say it.

Its not like he was in prison for murdering and eating people, I could care less what anyone says about those sorts of individuals. But maybe his family reads these boards. Maybe his friends do. I doubt you can tell me you've never driven even 1 mile or even less after having a bit too much to drink? If you post things like that about other people I have doubts that you regularly exercise such rational thought and good judgement. Its not just about drinking and driving, but the point is that we all do dumb things from time to time, or make mistakes. You and your family are lucky yours haven't caused you serious injury or death. Show some respect for those who have had those tragedies.

I dont know who SpaceMonkey is, but that may be the best thing I've seen written on this board in a while. Drew was a special kid....period. Things happen in life that shouldnt...no way around that. Look at the positives and try to make things around you better. MOST of us do that better now.

SpaceMonkey....find me at the next tailgate and you get the first freebie. (that really sounds worse than intended)...hehe

GMG!!!

Doesn't mean he still doesn't have the right to say it.

I weep bitter tears at the state of civics education in this country.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Private parties can enter into agreements that would be unconstitutional for the Congress to enact, such as a renters agreement that bars tenants from possessing fire arms on the property.

By posting here, you agree to abide by our rules. Please read them.

What i am trying to say and keep failing to do it.. is this... he can say what he wants... there are just consequences to that. i.e. you deleting the thread. and for the umpteenth time having to post the rules to the board.

Did you... get the memo? TPS Report / Board Rules

Also, saying someone has the right to break a rule and the suffer the consquences, is like saying a criminal has the "right" to steal you car and go to jail for it. The crook never had a "right" to your car, and you don't have the "right" to post things counter to our rules.

You have the "ability" to do either, you have the "right" to do neither.

Like I said.....Big, Huge, Monstrous thumbs up to the Mod for deleting that thread. As fellow UNTans we should not operate by what is your "right" or "ability" but what you SHOULD do. We shoudl expect more from our fellow fans.

Just realize that just because you don't like an opinion, that doesn't mean the thread needs to be deleted. People can have all sort of contrary opinions, just lay off the trolling and personal attacks.

Let the gnashing of teeth and rending of clothes resume...
