Since taking over the Richland College men's basketball program, new coach Chuck Taylor is trying to continue the tradtion of division I athletes that get highly recruited each year. The player that has already started the most "buzz" around Texas is 6'4" 215 pound wing Will Bullard, a Detroit native. Bullard hasn't played a game yet for the Thunderducks but is attracting attention from many schools. There has already been offers extented his way from division II on up to the mid-major ranks.

"Will is doing good and he is doing well in the classroom too. Will is getting a lot of looks," said coach Taylor. "There have been many schools that have already come in and more to come in the next few weeks."

Four division I schools have offered and others have called to inquire about Bullard. "Corpus Christi A&M, McNeese, Southeastern Louisiana and North Texas have offered, along with a few D-II schools," said Taylor. "Oakland University from Detroit has called to ask about Will and so has Nebraska, Centenary, Southern and TCU."

Bullard spent last season in his hometown and attended Marygrove College which is part of the USCAA Conference. Bullard was a second team All-American as a freshman.

After a year at Marygrove, Bullard needed a new setting and figured that Dallas would be a great place for a new start and a chance to be seen for a division I scholarship. "Dallas is great and so is the school," said Bullard. "Right now I am concentrating getting my work done in the classroom and I should graduate."

Like most junior college players, Bullard will wait til the spring to sign. "I will be looking for a school with a good education besides a good basketball program. I am studying business because I will need something after basketball. It doesn't last forever."

Texas Hoops Analysis: WILL BULLARD is an extraordinary athlete and a big time leaper. Bullard has a trim basketball body, is a lefty and plays either the 2/3. He is very explosive going to the hole and can finish above defenders. Bullard will use his athleticism to rebound, has good ball handling skills and will knock down the open three.
