What are you going to do about that? As important as out team playing well is finding a way to do the impossible and get people into the seats on a Tuesday night for a nationally televised game.

Instead of figuring out ways to bash the offense, defense, COACHING, figure out a way you can actually help. PUT SOMEONE IN THE SEATS TUESDAY!

You can do all the bitching and moaning you want about offense, defense, COACHING, but you are not going to get anything done!

The point of a fan discussion board is to discuss games. We have every right to complain about the caoches, players, administration, and whatever else we want to after 2 abysmal games like that(not to mention the last 8 years of OOC games). It is because we don't complain that outcomes like yesterdays have become acceptable to the administration.

Nothing we complain about on this board is going to change anything. DD and his gameplan are going to stay the same as long as he wins more than he loses, atleast for the time being.

OOC important as they are, will not get anyone at NT fired, or forced to change philosophy at this point.

3 years after our new stadium, maybe, but we are not even close to that point.

Do not pride yourselves to highly as far as change goes.

RV and the admin know what they have in DD, and they are glad he is around.

I agree wth most of what you say Dawg, but here your wrong my friend.

There's a WHOLE LOT people can change by complaining on this board. They can change what they do on their weekends. There's halloween party's coming up, the state fair, there's Cowboy watching partys, another nascar race in November, TCU is undefeated in their new conference....etc.......

This offensive system is poor. Without a top 25 defense to set it up in good field position and making things happen it becomes very dismal and boring. And boring runs people off.

I've seen it before. I hope I don't see it again.

First, I'll address your initial question, but then I want to address the point you raised later.

I'm going to try to fly down for the game Tuesday, stay in the DFW airport Hyatt and then take the earliest flight out Wednesday morning.

For the other point, this board is a forum for discussion and communication. I am trying to get people to set their sights higher. Then we need to get organized so to put better pressure on the administration to set their sights higher. This board should be a tool for better organization.

I don't think anyone is saying 'scrap' what we have. What I am trying to convince people of is that what we have is not going to get us to the next level and that the level we are at is not sufficient. We haven't even gotten to a consensus on that. If we could, then we could talk about, what specific steps need to be taken to reach the next level. And I do think there are steps that we fans can take to promote that outcome, beyond just showing up (which is unquestionably important).

We are starting to rest on our relatively modest laurels, plus there's some bad logic at work about progress to date and reaching the next level. I've addressed those points at length in the other posts that people who share your opinions have jumped all over.

"I'm bringing anywhere from 6-12 people from work to the game. Although, it is going to be harder to convince people to go when we have just had these back to back EMBARRASING performances. "

I agree that as fans we should be working hard to bring more people to the games, and with our limited marketing budget, athletics needs all the help they can get in this department. However, alumni can make a HUGE impact on the course of athletics, and even academics, in a university. How many people on this board give money to the Mean Green Club? Anually, how much do you think this board spends on donations of time, food, and money to North Texas? Don't think RV and his staff don't know what we collectively as a board do.

When your biggest supporters are not happy with the way things are going, they pull their support - i.e., money. And without money, nothing happens. Just look at TAMU as an example. When TAMU decided to add on to Kyle Field, all of the dead Revillies were not going to be able to see the scoreboard. (I know, it's morbid and a little weird, but at TAMU tradition is everything.) The alumni threw a huge fit and threatened to withdraw support. So, the school disinterred every single one of those dog skeletons, moved them to a location where they could see the scoreboard, and everything was fine. A few years ago, some students wanted to get together to form a cheerleading team. Since at TAMU, only yell leaders are allowed, this didn't wash so well with the alumni. They threatened to pull funding if the cheerleaders even wore maroon and white uniforms with "Aggies" written on it. So, the university pulled the plug and didn't allow the group to form. So as you can see, alumni can do a great deal to influence the decisions of a university. One day, I hope the alumni at North Texas give as much, so that we can be such a great financial asset to our great university. I hope we do not take that priviledge lightly, and that we are responsible with our giving, but that's a thought for another thread.

In my long-winded response, I'm finally getting to the point: If the fans (aka donating alumni) are not happy, ain't nobody happy. The people on this board love North Texas as much as you do, and would like nothing more than to see these incredibly talented players reach their full potential. We support the players through the good times and bad and will always cheer for U of NT. However, we have a right as financial stakeholders in the university to voice an opinion when things are not going well. This is not meant to slam the players or make them feel as if we are not glad they chose to play for North Texas. (If any players are reading this, the fans may grumble some, but you're always going to be superstars in our eyes.) But we have a duty to hold the coaching staff accountable for its actions and to demand the best for our team. We may not always be happy, but if you're not ever raising the bar, you're not ever going to get any better.

Sorry for the really long post, and if you've read the whole thing, I applaud you for your lack of anything better to do.

Thank goodness we have the next generation of fanatics (aka untgirl04 and the like) because, honestly, I've been following this team since 1995 and I'm starting to tire of the rah rah when we get beat 54-2 by freaking tusla at home. I'm having flashbacks to the Matt Simon era and that isn't good.
