I see that it is 31-0. It is time to let the administration know that it is intolerable, that change is demanded. Do not accept the status quo or excuses or the hope that things will get better on their own someday. The steps they've taken in the last few years would have worked 15 years ago, but the game has changed a lot since then.

This was predictable after last weeks gaff. DD will say the players are young, blah, blah. Nothing will change because the coach has a 5 year contract and keeps winning the weak conference. We are doomed to stay in the sunbelt. Expect 7,000 for the Troy game on national TV.

We are in the ghetto of college football. We need to move. We need a massive and aggressive fund-raising campaign.

I've been thinking about that. It would benefit the university to not let that happen...even if they have to give the tickets away. Does anyone know of any promotions specific to this game that could ensure a sell-out?

Only promotion I have seen or heard of is the free t-shirts to the first 3,000 students to the game. And that's only been mentioned at the previous game. I would home there is an all out blitz of advertising on campus starting this week for the game, although I don't know if that would be enough. The Marketing Dept. in the athletic dept. probably has the hardest job to pull of this upcoming week and a half.

This will require a change in the Athletic Director's position, as well as the head coach. It will be at least 5 years before we win another conference title if we change head coaches at this time. I realize it's the Sun Belt, but if we let DD go, out goes all of the coaches and the system that these players were recruited for. We would owe him close to a million dollars and would still have to hire a coach to take us to the next level.

I'm willing to see him go if an alum, other than Mattress Mac, steps forward to buy out the contract. But that's not going to happen because NT has a bunch of alums that don'r give a crap about football. Don't come with that weak ass "I care."

The problem is the school is not doing enough to get others to care.

Ok, here is a HSO for everyone (Aquila I am not trying to bring this all on you, but I want everyone to read this):

If the school can't/won't then there is only two positive things you can do.

1) Commit yourself to bringing more people to each game. Buy extra season tickets, bring new people to each game, offer to pay for tailgating food/drink for them.

2) If you truly think someone in the athletic department (coach or administrator) isn't doing thier job, then pressure the school to replace them, and write a check for thier buyout/replacement.

Yeah, both of those are going to require the fan to spend more money. I know there is a subset of fans who can't do that.

Our program is going to sink/swim based on what percentage of the ones who CAN give that time/money/effort CHOOSE TO DO SO.

I agree, and the school needs to use these travesties to point out how desperate the situation is, and directly appeal for money across the entire alumni base.

But if the school doesn't, what are the alumns going to do?

That is the real question.

For example, I plan on giving the school more. It would be easy to give up and turn one's back. However, I for one am taking these bludgeonings as a signal that more is needed. I urge all of you to do the same.

Further, yes there may be efforts that can be coordinated throught the Exes.

However, it is important that we see from the admininstration that there is a commitment to do something different soon.

I think facilities is partly an excuse. They are an easy target because they do not have personal feelings. Also, it requires insurmountable funds under the current situation, so the new stadium concept is like a pie in the sky that preserves the status quo.

Finally, I will say it again, I do not see why this school has to be urged to beg for money the way other schools do.

Bravo. If we get enough people to commit like this then we are going to do just fine. If we want to be one of top 1a teams, its going to cost like one of the 1a teams.

Everyone who feels this way should start sending letters.

Disagree here. Facilities have been a major problem for a long time, and the least of my concerns was a stadium. Even if you think DD should be fired tomorrow, you have to realize the HUGE gains we have made in facilities over the last few years, and how much those "worthless" SBC titles had to do with it.

Finally, I will say it again, I do not see why this school has to be urged to beg for money the way other schools do.

Agree. The school needs to improve by leaps in bounds in this area, and not just in athletics.

Because most of the students & alums don't care about football. The students care more about getting high and bitching about why they aren't attending UT, A&M or OU.

Some alums are more concerned about how the business department (or the department they were in) is doing, rather than the athletic department, which is the window to the University.

NT garners more publicity from a Tuesday night football game against Troy than it does from winning numerous departmental awards for being the tops in the field.

I really do appreciate the successes achieved over the last few years, but we need to step it up or we will get passed by and we will continue to suffer the annual huge defeats. Maybe it's all too crazy, how much some schools are putting into their football programs. But that is the price of admission to the 'big time'. This land of limbo that we are in, on the other hand, is just embarrassing.
