I think that Saturday's game showed us that there is a gap in the talent level between C-USA and SunBelt. The real key to the future of Mean Green football is the success men's and women's basketball. We must have those key components in place before we can move up to C-USA. Even with Fouts as an impediment, we might have made it to C-USA had our basketball programs been stronger. If you want to see football advance, please give the basketball programs so tender loving care and attend the games.

I agree. This football-only mentality we have at North Texas is costing us dearly. We put all our eggs in the football basket and when the basket breaks the eggs fall and everything is rotten. We need to go out there and get a big name basketball coach with a winning pedigree like FAU and Houston have done. It's not that hard. Basketball could be a big revenue sport for us and another source of positive attention if we actually took it seriously.

Good news is you all play Tulsa in basketball too.  unsure.gif

Don't start talking down to anyone ... Don't let a win go to your head. It is only one game. Congrats on last Saturday.

Lack of baseball hurt us more than not having a winning basketball team.

We won't get into CUSA until we grow our fan base. Season tickets and MGC donors speak louder than any short term winning. See UTEP.

I like UNT basketball, I try to get people to go out every year, I put pictures/stories in the MGR, but basketball isn't the key to us moving up, we do need to support it however.

The age old argument...Football vs Basketball.

Talked to death...Argued to death...

Our football program turned themselves around without the benefit of a large sum of money...hell we get kids who can go to bigger better programs to come here. For those of you who love basketball...i would simply say encourage more than 50 people to show up to a game...if you have a "low-cost" promo suggest it to RV...the largest crowd I seen at a basketball game was last year when pc and jt signed autographs...

If you want that program to succeed donate to that program exclusively...but most importantly you have to put butts in the seats, someone has to show interest. johnny j is doing a good job...he's improved the program from where trilli left it...he needs to take the next step and win now...

Good luck roundballers, I'm not arguing against you, just stating opinions. Honestly, I would like to see all our sports win the belt.

Good Luck

Wasn't talking down. Was cracking a joke at my own school's two seasons of misfortune. Heck, my husband is a former TU basketball player (during the more glorious years though)!
