Tulsa 38 at North Texas 20

DENTON, TEXAS (11/20/05) - North

Texas receiver Marvin Walker set NCAA

Division I-AA records for receptions in a

game and a season, but it wasn’t enough

as Tulsa beat the Mean Green 38-20 at

Fouts Field. Walker caught 22 passes for

164 yards in the game, giving the senior

91 catches on the season. Mean Green

quarterback Rusty Hill set school records

by attempted 61 passes, completing 42

for 377 yards. But, the Golden Hurricane

took the lead in the third quarter

on a Michael Gunter four yard run, and

never looked back. A 60-yard interception

return for a touchdown iced the game for

Tulsa late in the fourth quarter.

And I bet not one pass was thrown down field more than 10 yards. That was a real bad NT team. I think Ron Shanklin was the offensive coordinator. NT could not run the ball and every other play was a sideline pass to Walker in leiu of a running game. Notice Walker did not average 8 yard a catch in this game.
