What players on offense and defense will be the impact players against Tulsa.

Offense:

I think that Meager will be the man against the Golden Hurricaines as Tulsa will undoubtedly stack the box with 8-9 players. Meager will have to make quicker, and better, reads to find the single coverage. This will be a big game for him as he has has a taste of the speed at the D1A level and I think we will all be surprised with his performance.

Defense:

I think Aaron Weathers will be the make or break/player on defense as he will be asked to help the linebackers with coverage against TE Garret Mills as well as provide run support. Mills had 13 receptions for 152 yards against OU and 5 for 38 yards against Minnesota. If Weathers can play as big as he did against MUTS than we have a real chance to shut the Tulsa offense down.

I agree Meager needs to have a big game since Tulsa will stack the box, forcing us to air the bair more. Meager proved he can throw the ball and we've multiple talented WR threats- no excuse to not have a big day passing the pigskin!

On defense, Weathers is the key player since we'll need to shut down Mills. The DE need to come up bigger than they did in the MTSU game though- I'm sure adjustments will be made to accomodate the Tulsa schemes.

On offense, I think it will be in the hands of the tight ends. I feel confiden that Meager will get the ball there, but the tight ends will have to prove they are a capable set of receivers, as that will help spread the defense out.

Danny Meager for sure...

All the DB's will have to have a good game on defense. Also on defense, our rush ends need to have an awesome game, and pressure their QB.

Not sure who the impact RB/s is/are going to be...??? ph34r.gif

I think T.J. Covington is going to have an impact as well. His hard hits on the WR will make them think twice before catching the ball. We might be able to get them to hear "footsteps" enough to cause an interception/fumble or two.

Offensive Line... the entire line. If they can control the line of scrimmage and let the guys run, it's over for Tulsa.

...if not, we're in the same type of game we were in Saturday night against the Raiders, and we won't be as lucky as this last time.

Offense: Cobbs and Thomas, OU didn't have to pass to beat Tulsa and neither will we (although we will pass for more yards than OU and run for alot more).

Defense: I'm going to go out on a limb and say Cotton has a huge game.

Kind of off the topic, but as well as Tulsa played OU last week, if we dominate them is there any chance of getting in the Top 25 or atleast getting more than 1 vote?

probably not. OU isnt even playing like a top 25 team. And after they get their butts kicked at UCLA, they wont even be ranked.

Now, if we are undefeated going into the LSU game, yes, i think we might see some top 25 love, or at least a few votes.

We need to beat some teams that arent ranked in the bottom 20, IMO.

I think our defensive line and it's ability to get a pass rush will be the key.

What he said.

As for when we have the ball..... Peterson had 220 yards rushing against Tulsa. Maroney had 160--- in the first QUARTER. That, in itself, doesn't guarantee a win for us, but be prepared for a world-class display of rushing prowess. Cobbs and Thomas should have a great game.
