the tortilla tradition will always continue at UNT, no matter what...even if the athletic dept says we cant, i mean they never said okay in the first place and i highly doubt there will be tortilla police monitoring the stands, so i say everyone bring your tortillas in as usual...

lets make it a fun game atmosphere like always

by the way who's bringing the tortilla inside the stadium this year...i will be too busy setting up my tailgating section to even think about gettin them

I thought about doing this:

I plan on buying a case of tortillas and putting 20 or so of them in a plastic bags along with directions and why we have this tradition and scatter them throughout the stadium.

What do you guys think about this? I might do this for the Troy game.

I think wearing green beads would be a cooler tradition than tossing tortillas. But hey if you don't mind other schools in Texas making fun of UNT, go right ahead. If you don't believe me, post your tradition on another school's fan board and prove me wrong.

John Denver used to have a link up that told the story of the tortillas well. If he still has that it would be the PERFECT thing to print off.

This link?

Personally I don't care either way. I don't throw them, but if it gets the children to remember and have fun ... and think of UNT is a positive light down the line... I am all for it.

As far as TU taking shots at it being lame ... wow.. they have 5 fans posting on their board and they are taking shots?

For the record, it isn't glossing over the fact that we got waxed by TT later, it is that we are 4-4 with them overall. That is including out Div1aa days... that is a thing to be proud of.

And try accomplishing something like ... i dunno... A FREAKING conference title before you make remarks about 5-6 record and going to a bowl game. Tulsa Tulsa... TWO winning seasons in twelve years!?! Ouch.

From their site:

"I would be embarassed if we did anything like that (ie ripoff another school's tradition)."

Tulsa has lost to SMU in: 92, 96,97,98,99,00,01,02,04

Which is more embarrassing? laugh.giflaugh.gif

I could not care less what a bunch of Tulsa fans think about the tortillas. If they don't like it, they will just have to shut us out tomorrow. And that aint gonna happen.

I hate that dumb tortilla thing maybe more than anything else involving NT.

It is lame, unoriginal, stolen, boring, trite, pointless and a million other things than a "tradition".

But, like the uniform issue, goalposts being torn down and other topics, this has been beaten to death many times here. So I'll direct my remarks to UNT playmaker, who I've taken issue with in the past.

I think it's funny that you are championing everyone bringning in tortillas to the game and thumbing your noise up to NT and throwing them all over Fouts, but then you say you can't bring any in because you're too busy getting ready for tailgating. How lame is that?! If you are tailgating, I'm sure you have to go to the store to buy food and beer. How much time does it take to grab a bag of tortillas? Are you a little scared of getting caught by the "tortilla police"

BTW, if NT beats Tulsa tomorrow will you want to tear the goalposts down since it was an OOC win and you just love tearing them down and any chance?

Well done you social rebel you!
