Question on Seneca Collins Reply

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

North Texas has a defensive end on their team named Seneca Collins who played bball for Tulsa. He is supposed to be a pretty good player. Does anyone know why he transferred and why he didn't play football at Tulsa and chose to play for North Texas? I believe he is from Duncanville and wanted to stay closer to home but am not 100% sure. Any insight would be appreciated. Hope to see you guys in Denton this week.

This is what little I know and there are others on this board who can probably give you better info. Seneca did play basketball here, we had coaching issues, and we only won nine games each of the last two seasons and there was disarray. Although we have hired a new head coach who shows great promise, Seneca apparently decided to forego his senior year in basketball. He did not play football here, but this spring he did take part in practice for awhile until he got injured and apparently decided to call it quits. I had only recently heard he had enrolled at UNT and might play football.

Personally, I wish he'd stayed for his senior year in basketball as I believe the new head coach would have brought out the best in him and he would have finished up his college career on a more positive note.

We look forward to taking on the Mean Green this weekend in Denton.

So Seneca plays football this year and comes back next year for bball as a 5th year senior...

I hope it works well for him and that he gets his degree...

However, GO TU and Whip the "mean green"

I would prefer not to have North Texas on the hoops schedule for a couple of years. Seneca's crime was being a sharp shooter built like a linebacker (and worst, first year built like a offensive guard and played about 20 seconds but wasn't redshirted by our intelligent coaches). By his JR year, Seneca had worked his tail off and came in svelt.. but he was still a SG from 3.... playing in JP's offense.

Always pissed me off at TU fans who degraded him because he was a heavy guard. He was/is talented and never came close to being the player he could be at TU more because of things out of his control than in his control. I was sorry to lose him. IMO, he will end up playing hoops for North Texas and I would prefer not to have them on the schedule any time soon.

my .02 cents.
