Release: 09/06/2005

DENTON (9/6/05) - After the season opener at LSU was postponed due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina, North Texas (0-0) opens the 2005 Sun Belt schedule at Middle Tennessee (0-1) on Saturday, Sept. 10. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The game is part of the Sun Belt TV package on the ESPN Regional Network and will air locally on KFWD Channel 52. The game is also available on ESPN Gameplan.

The Mean Green holds a 4-0 edge all-time over the Blue Raiders, with two of the games decided by less than a touchdown. The first meeting was 24-21 win in Denton that decided the conference crown in 2001. The Mean Green swept the next two in Murfreesboro in 2002 (30-20) and 2003 (33-28). Last season North Texas won 30-21 at Fouts Field. Interestingly, the Mean Green holds a 16-0 edge in quarterback sacks in the four game series.

North Texas is riding the nation’s second longest conference winning streak. The Mean Green has won 25 straight Sun Belt games, with its only conference loss coming in its inagural game at UL-Monroe in 2001
