I think the world of sports will see drastic changes coming out of N.O. with the N.O. Saints looking for a new home, the mostly choice will be San Antonio, which is a city with a pop. of over a million and is close to Louisana.

Also CUSA will not keep tulane in their conference after their entire enrollment, university and stadium got wiped out entirely.

New Orleans, a city of 480,000, is now a military base, is 80% underwater, and is now regarded as the metropolis underwater. The city pop will dwindle to less than 250,000 after all the people who want to return will return. the predictions are the citys unemployment will between 30 to 40%. this doesnt tell the tale of the amount of homeless people there will be living in the city.

basically New Orleans will be the known as the city of shelters, the SAINTS were strugglin before the hurricane will go bankrupt in two weeks if it stays in there, it has no stadium, attendance, or even hope of making it...that is the inevitable truth...the saints will go to San Antonio....

Tulane lost most of it students to different area schools, its university is flooded, and its professors are looking for work elsewhere, also there will be no games played, no facilites to use, and no attendance. there eligibility in CUSA is ticking away until the commissioner pulls the plug for good on the school, and their membership will be awarded to UNT...

UNT has another opportunity to get that coveted CUSA invite

The chances of ANY conference throwing a member out because that member simply happened to suffer the single worst natural disaster in American history is ZERO. No one would do that - the bad publicity would force the resignation of every President who voted for it.

Tulane will be given YEARS to rebuild. So will UNO. And they should be given years.

I would not want NT to be a member of a conference that did such a horrible thing.

As for the Saints going "bankrupt" or "struggling" before the storm, I think you might need a quick refresher course in accounting. First, the Saints were negotiating for the city to get them a new stadium. Secondly, the 32 NFL teams divide their TV revenue evenly. They get more TV revenue than baseball, basketball, hockey and every other professional league COMBINED.

If New Orleans builds a replacement for the Super Dome - and they will - the Saints will come marching home <g>.

I disagree partially. The owner of the Saints is a Texas native and has been flirting with moving the team to Texas anyway. (At least, that's what ESPN's OTL said last night).

I think NO will end up with a team, regardless of where the current Saints end up. Like Houston, they may need to wait a while on it, but I really do think the team would suffer some revenue losses for a long time if they stayed in NO at the moment anyway. That city has an awful lot of rebuilding to do, and they have higher priorities for spending money than supporting a football team. But the city of NO is pretty good to its teams - even if they do go to games occassionally with bags on their heads. blink.gif

Agree; the country would go nuts and the backlash would be unbearable for CUSA, the ADs, and Presidents. Tulane will not be kicked out.

Tulane won't be out of CUSA. When they dropped basketball for two years in the point shaving scandal that was a required sport in the Metro and they let Tulane remain until basketball restarted.

I don't know what Tulane will end up doing this year but they may re-open as early as January. If the dome is torn down they will move to Tad Gormley Stadium (think Fouts after renovations to make it a world class track facility) until a replacement is built. They will build a large stadium in New Orleans to host the Sugar Bowl. It may not be a dome but there will be a high caliber facility. The NFL may force the Saints to stay in place but they can't last there long because they weren't drawing well as it was. With the wake of the storm and flooding the population will be lower and the rebuild efforts will limit the disposable income.
