I haven't even read into this, but what type of offense does LSU run? Did they change it to something new with the new coaching change?

Also, if Katrina does end up knocking out power forcing cancelation of the game, should our coaches start to introduce MTSU tomorrow afternoon?

MTSU runs a confusing, wide open offense. It's the exact same system that Southlake Carrol uses, taught to them by Andy Mac himself 4 years ago. The Dragons destroyed Midlan Lee last night by the way. But as wild as MTSU's offense is it's never beaten NT as we have always had an answer for it. Still, this time we have a lot of new guys to prepare. If the game against LSU is canceled this could give us an extra week to prepare and introduce the Blue Raiders' offense.

Thoughts?

I don't think there's any question the coaches will look to MTSU when/if the LSU game is cancelled. And an extra week of MTSU preparation would do wonders for the worriers on the board.

As for Mac and Southlake Carrol...I never knew of the connection. Did Mac actually coach there before he was at MTSU? How long has he been in Mufrees'?

No, the entire SL Carrol coaching staff attended a camp at MTSU back in 2002 and learned their system. I ran into a Carrol coach that summer who told me about it. Interestingly he said much of the film used during the camp was MTSU's game against North Texas. He said NT's physical play on the O and D lines was the difference in that game and mentioned it looked as if NT took the sails out of their team when their RB went out with the injury.

Funny thing about that crazy wide open offensive system. It seems the High Schools that run it best..ie Carrol, cannot be stopped by High School defenses. It's just too much to ask for a high school defense to have 3 and 4 track speed types who can cover to shut it down. Whereas, in college everyone has their share of speed on defense and it's not helped many teams who solely run it. I'm sure there are other examples, but It's not helped Tech win a championship yet and as I stated earlier, MTSU hasn't been able to beat us yet. I guess OU won a championship with it, USC runs it some. But they mix in the run more whereas Tech and Hawaii and other schools run the spread most times but can't win against good defenses. Last year Tech was a couple of runs away from disproving this in the Texas game. I could be wrong, but it just seems when these programs go up against a top defense they eventually get shut down?

I've always thought the MUTS have a great high school offense. Especially the part where they look to the sidelines for the call. laugh.gif
