DENTON (8/22/05) - Mean Green offensive lineman Dylan Lineberry was named to the 2005 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List.

The 2004 Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year, Lineberry is considered one of the most physical blockers in the conference. The senior started every game last season and graded out as the team's second best offensive lineman behind two-time all-conference center Andy Brewster.

The Rotary Lombardi Award honors the top lineman in college football. Named after Vince Lombardi, the legendary Green Bay Packers coach, the award will be presented on December 7 at the Hilton Americas Hotel in Downtown Houston.

The Lombardi is the second watch list Lineberry has been named to this preseason. The guard was also selected to the Outland Trophy Watch List, also given annually to the best lineman in the country.

Lineberry is not the first Mean Green player to be named to an award watch list. Running back Jamario Thomas was selected to the Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award Watch Lists. Running back Patrick Cobbs was also named to the Maxwell Watch List and all-conference kicker Nick Bazaldua was honored with the Lou Groza Award watch list.

The Mean Green football team opens the season at Louisiana State on Sept. 3.

Congrats Dylan!!

I'm happy that the Media Relation department actually thought this was important enough to do a release on.

Still waiting for a release on him being named to the Outland Trophy Watch List. It was released over a month ago.
