I personally think we will win 3 of 4 out of conference games. The LSD-LSU game will be close, but no cigar. We'll wipe the floor with Louisiana Tech, we'll barely beat Tusla, and we'll play surprisingly well in a victory over Kansas State.

Conference playworries me, and it's not the Middle Tennessee game. We rule them ....but Troy at Fouts Could be trouble.

La Tech and Tulsa are wins. I just have no read for the LSU or Kansas State game as of yet.

La Tech (on the road and their Homecoming game) will be a good hard fought game, but we'll wear them down in 3'rd quarter with our dynamic duo featured today on the cover of USA TODAY's Section 1/Page 1 AND then on page 1 of its sports page. cool.gif

I think Tulsa will be close until all our players get their Omni-Grass legs and then we will tuck it away by the end of the 3'rd quarter! Wait a minute! I said this "3'rd quarter" thing about La Tech, too, now didn't I! ohmy.gif

My husband works with a man from Louisania who is and has always been a diehard LSU fan and he says that LSU is not as good as everyone says they will be this year. He would not commit to saying NT would win, but he felt it would definately not be a blow out.

I would love to say 3-1 or 2-2, but I've seen it too much the past few years in OOC play.

As I take off my green tinted glasses, I see them going 1-3.

Losses to LSU and KSU and beat either LaTech or Tulsa. (as much as it hurts to say, the edge goes to LaTech on the road)

Until I see otherwise......................

I find it funny that everyone picks us to crush La Tech and barely beat Tulsa when;

1)La Tech is on the road and Tulsa is at our house

2)Tulsa had one of 1A's worst defenses last year

3)Tulsa is the home opener

I agree with you.... Tulsa could be an easy one but expect LaTech to be a struggle but win.

If we hang tough the first quarter against LSU it will be an interesting close game... if not, we take a beating.

KSU, I would like to say we win but I think it will be a close loss. A little luck (turnovers etc.) may decide this one.

Not on list but MTSU looks spooky....... it is an early season game (we get better as the season goes plus we have lots of inexperience), and it is at their place. I am hoping they don't live to their potential, they rarely do.

Tulsa should be a good chance for a win. LSU and K State will look a lot like the Texas/Colorado matchups last year...with slightly closer results (hopefully). La Tech could go either way. After the past few seasons, I am reluctant to get over confident about any OOC game. I remember the feelings I had after Baylor last year, Air Force and Arkansas the year before, Arizona and South Florida from a couple of years ago...etc. Just trying to keep it in perspective. If we can go 2-2 OOC we will be in GREAT shape. Go Mean Green.

I'm afraid I have to agree with PerryG and TheColonyEagle. We just don't seem to take OOC games seriously enough. Last year we even lost our OOC game to Florida Atlantic and that was a home game.

I would love to be wrong and see us go 4-0, 3-1 or even 2-2 in OOC, but I don't have a lot of confidence that it will happen.

Exactly the way I see it as well.

If we don't beat Tulsa and La Tech (who are supposed to finish somewhere in the middle of the WAC) we will need to do some serious re-grouping with the football program.

I feel like we'll be OK at La Tech because our defense should have meshed by that time of season with all cylinders running. If we think we are going to have problems running on La Tech I only defer to last years Colorado game. Lets not cut ourselves short on this OOC discussion.

I think the Tulsa game could have a shaky start with so many new faces on defense in only our 3'rd game, but I still think we win it with our much superior offense that has a pretty darn good offensive line this year. USA Today told the whole country about our 2 RB's just yesterday (but we all sorta' knew about them anyway, now didn't we)? Actually, I believe this NT offense will keep the Mean Green "D" off the field (ie, re-group time) many times this season with sustained drives; that is, if our 2 RB's don't spend all their time breaking 50 and 60 yard TD runs. smile.gif

2-2 or 1-3

When was the last time we won 2 or more OOC games?

Have we ever since Sun Belt play?

We won 2 OOC games 4 times since our return to D1A(I am not counting 1995 when all of our games were OOC). The problem is that we beat a 1-AA team each of those years.

We beat Samford and Louisiana-Lafayette in 2000.

We beat Nicholls State and Cincinnati in 2002.

We beat Indiana State and Texas Tech in 1997

We beat Illinois State and Northern Illinois in 1996
