I was in Steve and Barry's last night and all NT shirts were gone. Nothing on the hanging racks and nothing in the little cubbies. If you sell it, they will come!

There's another store at Grapevine Mills with NT stuff...Sports USA or something like that. No apparel, just flags, blankets, chairs, pens, etc. They had the standard folding chair with "North Texas" on the front of the seat back and the helmet on the back of the seat back.

Good to see more places with stuff. smile.gif

I know where I will be visiting tomorrow.

make sure to go by steve and barrys and tell them how you heard they had NT gear and are dissapointed they are out!

Its awesome that you can get the gear all over now... when I started in 1995 my mom had to drive all the way to the bookstore to find me a t-shirt to see me off to school with!

Could that be "Just Sports"? I don't find a "Sports USA" or any name like that in the store listings at GMM.

There is a store in Stonebriar mall (one of 7 locations in North Dallas) called Texas Treasures. I went in there with my sister looking for some cool Texas stuff for her to take back to KY where she goes to law school. I noticed they have UT, aTm and Tech stuff but no NT stuff when they are 30 mins away from there. I saw 5 or 6 different NT gear wearing people while I was there. At least the hat place has a few hats... that Spirit Store doesn't even have a mug or a key chain...

Anyway back to Texas Treasures, I couldn't find an e-mail address, but their phone number is 972-484-6520 and their street addy is 10917 Indian Trail // Dallas TX 75229. I am going to give them a call tomorrow afternoon to have a chat and send them a letter too. Here is another store we should spread the nation to.

The main reason these local stores don't have merchandise is because we don't have the demand to warrant the expense associated with our CLC licensing. Don't be fooled by the branding site; these logos have been out long enough now for someone other then the NT bookstores to start carrying the new stuff.

NT must rid itself of this CLC contract. It causes more trouble then its worth.

I know some of you must be wondering why Adler keeps harping about emailing Steve & Barry's University Sportswear.

Steve & Barry's is a national chain of sportswear stores that specializes in selling collegiate logo sportswear. They sell t-shirts, football jerseys, baseball jerseys, jackets, hats, kids clothing, and sweatshirts, all done in collegiate colors and logos. Their quality is outstanding, sweatshirts with stitched on lettering and embroidery which would cost $60 or more at other stores are less than $10 at Steve And Barry's.

With 32,000 students and estimated 80,000 to 100,000 alumni in the D/FW metroplex, there is certainly a demand for North Texas merchandise if it can be sold at a reasonable price. We're just looking for a retailer that has the ability to meet that demand.

Steve and Barrys fits that bill perfectly.

Please take just a moment and write a quick note to Steve and Barry's. The more we're heard, the better our chances of getting their support.

And another idea......

Go to the STEVE and BARRY'S web site. Click on COMMUNITY, then click SUGGESTIONS.

You can make whatever suggestions that you want, and you don't even have to furnish an email address.

AKA - ADLER can send the smae suggestion 50 times and they won't know they are all from him :-)

Please, I hope there is nobody on this board oblivious enough to think that this is somehow my battle. Steve and Barry's has got to have customer responses from many of us or this type of campaign just doesn't work.

Look, for decades we've beaten our heads against walls because merchants wouldn't carry North Texas merchandise. It's either A) we're a national chain and our buyers only carry national schools, B) we're a mom-and-pop store and we'd have to buy the stuff in such small quantities that it would be outrageously expensive, or C) that collegiate licensing for an unknown school wasn't worth our time and effort.

We've wound up being limited to two bookstores in Denton as the only stores on the planet that sell North Texas merchandise. What they offer has historically been horrendously overpriced and of suspect quality or design. Result, other than the die-hard fans, few people own North Texas gear.

Now WE have an opportunity to help change that situation. A national retailer that specializes in manufacturing and selling collegiate sportswear has moved into our region. Everything they sell, whether it's shirts, jerseys, sweatshirts, or jackets is guaranteed $9.98 or less. They have already displayed that they will be willing to work through licensing issues and will certainly expand the North Texas product line if they confirm that the demand is there for those North Texas products.

WE have got to let them know that WE ARE HERE and that THERE IS DEMAND FOR NORTH TEXAS PRODUCTS. WE have got to make some noise, and there are enough of us on these message boards to catch a corporation's attention.

Please people, and yes, I do feel like I'm beating my head against the wall on this, CONTACT STEVE AND BARRY'S AND LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU'RE INTERESTED IN NORTH TEXAS MERCHANDISE.

Please keep sending them notes fairly regularly until we get the results we're looking for.

Thanks and Go Mean Green,

Adler

FWIW, I did both. I think this is a very good cause. It takes a second to write an e-mail and if we all do it (300 or so) then we will probably see some results.
