Speed

People have been claiming for years that we don't have "Big Twelve type" speed, but if you consider our probable top six offensive weapons (Thomas, Cobbs, Quinn, Nwigwe, Muzzy, and Meagher), have we ever had more speed on offense here in Denton? All of those guys are either legitimate D-1 track guys or they could probably hold their own in the sprints against similar position players anywhere around the country.

How about the probable starters on defense? We have excellent speed at both corners, both outside linebackers, and both defensive ends. The safety positions are looking pretty quick also.

Also, we are probably going to be bigger and stronger across the OL than we have ever been. I know that we have a lot of youth and inexperience, but a good number of the underclassmen that will see significant playing time are redshirts. If the depth and QB position can come through, we could be in for a couple of very special years. Any thoughts?

The problem is that even the 2nd string players in the Big 12 have "Big 12 speed". We may have some fast guys on the team and an infusion of freshman with good speed but the thing that seperates us from the BCS schools is that we have 9-10 players with speed whereas UT, OU, LSU, Kansas State, etc... have 30-35 players with speed. We just don't have the depth.
