Armstrong shatters the field to win today's 20 stage by 23 seconds over Ullrich during the individual time trial. He can now cruise into Paris tomorrow. It looks as if the German, Ullrich will finish in second place on the podium which will be fitting as he has been Armstrong's greatest adversary all these years.

What an amazing story this has been these past 8 years.

Lance had to have been happy to see that finish line today. He was rapidly losing time to Ullrich at the end.

I really hope people don't lose sight of just how good Ullrich was all these years and still is.

Suppose, Heaven forbid, that Lance never recovered from Cancer. Nobody would have known just how gifted an athlete he was.

And, we would all be talking about Jan Ullrich and HIS 6 Tour de France wins, and how HE is the best ever in the tour.

Sometimes stars are allowed to shine much brighter because of the misfortune of others. If Houston Rocket's forward Ralph Sampson had not had a series of knee injuries that quickly ended his career, Michael Jordan would never have played for an NBA champion. Because he would have played in an era so clearly dominated by the Houston Rockets and their string of championships, Jordan would only have been remembered as another great NBA scorer that was never able to win the big one.

--The difference in success and failure is usually very little. It is true in every aspect of life. How many "games" or are decided by one play, a few inches, or one fortunate or unfortunate decicison. In Ulrich's case it was the existence of Lance and his decision to be a cyclist that keeps Jan from being the greatest cycleist of all-time.

---How many seemingly uneventful decisions at the time change our life forever...? Some of those decisons weren't even ours..... NT had me return to campus one day while student teaching which caused me to get th job I took, took me to where I live and as a result marry who I did. This demonstrates that many seemingly trivial decisions or statements can change people's lives. --This is the greatest thing about being in front of a classroom..
