PMG, do you stay up nights thinking of the next poll you can put up? "Careful pardner, PMG will poll ya at the drop of a hat" rolleyes.gif

You got me, MG61! laugh.gif

Yeah, and I got an email from one of you suggesting a Dr. Salk type researcher needs to come up with something for, uh, poll-itus. sad.gif

Looks like Richard Schrushy is back in the Troy U athletic fold ($$$$) and if so, I'm sure he he is much happier to be there than in the place where the courts almost recently put him over his alleged fraud with HealthSouth. rolleyes.gif

We'd have to know what the whole package is worth before we started making comparisons. What is the base plus the television, plus the shoes contract, plus the bonus structure, etc., etc.? Since none of us are privy to every jot and tittle of every coach's contract, we probably jump the gun in discussing their contracts...unless we're comparing say, the Bob Stoopses and Mack Browns of the coaching world to the Darrell Dickeys and Larry Blakeneys.

I voted no. The reason: We may have won the last four championships, but weren't we in the bottom half of league attendance last year?

So, if ULL or Troy or some other school, is actually making more $$$ off of their football program than we are, why shouldn't the market dictate things? And if that means their coaches make more....so be it.

I feel our coaches should have an opportunity to make more than any in the SBC & most in CUSA (if they aren't already). Shouldn't each of their salaries be accessible to the public since this is a state university?

BUT after taking a hint from SUMG's post I also believe that any significant bonuses made available to our entire athletic staff should be tied to attendance at Fouts Field and when lofty numbers are met at the turnstiles then each of their bonuses should be just as lofty. If NT has 30,000 showing up for each home game, I think we should be able to cover such bonuses.

Attendance is still our #1 challenge in Denton and it would sure be nice to see some kind of game plan on the drawing board to solve it.

The coaches coach!

Why should they also be held accountable for filling the stands. Are professors paid according to how many students come to thier class? The athletic director and his staff along with university operations should be responsible for filling the stands.

Actually, I have heard of this being done at other schools.

Sort of an encouragement for all athletic staffers (not just the coaches) to collectively as a department be pro-active in their community involvement as to sell more tickets to the general public.
