Armstrong destroyed his rivals today in the first day of the Alpine climbs and the Discovery Team returned to show their power. The times listed at the end of this article isn't correct because Ulhrich is now over 2 minutes behind Armstrong. The dude that burned up the flats on saturday to take the Yellow Jersey finished over 30 minutes behind and nearly got technically dropped from the race entirely. It's amazing to see the difference between the climbers and the flat sprinters.

Good stuff,

Rick

I've been watching "The Tour." Pretty impressive. He gave up the yellow jersey to Voit on Sunday, rest day on Monday, then Lance takes it back from Voit by about 30 minutes.

I am not the formost authority on professional bike riding stratagy, but that is a blow out. Lance has a 38 second lead over someone else and (supposidly) that is a huge lead when it comes to biking in the mountains. Sunday the anouncers said that Lance was "loaning" out the yellow jersey for a day.

Closest competitor is Ivan Basso at about 62 seconds back. Ulrich? The Russian rider who's name I will not even try? Both riding for T Mobil? Where are they?

A long way back.

----It appears that USC will start the year in the NCAA football "Yellow Jerseys" this year. Personally I doubt anyone will make up any time on them either. Too many bodies return for the 2005 ride..
