Denton (7/12/05) - Former Mean Green football star and Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowler Brian Waters stopped by the North Texas Football Camp to visit with the athletes.

Waters, who became the first offensive lineman to ever be named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week, spoke to campers about the importance of dedication in order to persevere in football.

No one knows better than Waters about how to succeed on the field under adverse conditions. While at North Texas, Waters played nearly every position on both sides of the ball, finding two-way success as a tight end and all-conference defensive tackle.

Signed by the Dallas Cowboys as a free-agent defensive lineman and tight end, Waters has since started 55 consecutive games as an offensive lineman for the Chiefs. Last season, his line paved the way for Chief's running backs to rumble for an NFL record eight touchdowns against the Atlanta Falcons.

Waters was recently named to the North Texas Athletic Hall of Fame and will be inducted as part of the Mean Green’s annual homecoming weekend festivities on October 29.
