I've been to RustOn twice..the only town...

The biggest budget in the world doesn't mean your team will be great. Wow you got nice facilities and a below average football team. LA. Tech has below average facilities and a pretty good team. Hmmmm... I think I will go with LA. Tech on that one.

Just like your avatar, your view of the world is blurred.

Southern Miss lost to Cincinatti by 30 points. Yeah they were great. Not. Quit lying to yourselves LA. Tech is every bit as good as Southern Miss. Tech wins by at least 20 points like Southern Miss did last year.

DR. PHIL, we have another patient for you who has terminal Bulldawg-itus' on the brain and is a bit delusional to boot!

Most of the pre-season college football magazines I've read do not concur with you at all. Of course, I've not read them all, but I've read all I need to read. You, sir, didn' even know NT had an Outland Trophy Award nominee on our offensive line this Fall. What else is there we need to inform you?

You have (at best) a laughable forecast of our game with La Tech. They will not realize whats hit them once the Emerald Express (Sir Patrick Cobbs), Super JaMo (Thomas) and their teammates finish business that Fall afternoon in J. Aillet Stadium. This is no smack board fun talk with what I am saying, either. cool.gif

They may run over little sun belt defenses but not real defenses. See Southern Miss, Texas last year and it will be the same result this year against LA. Tech. Their must be something in the water over there that makes you think you can hang with real D-1 teams. Not ULL ULM etc.

Tell me when is the last time NT won a non-conference game against a decent team?(Baylor does not count) All NT can do is beat Sun Belt teams and get clobbered by real D-1 teams. Sorry if you don't see the truth. It is pretty sad when Baylor is your biggest win in school history. Guess who LA. Tech has beaten for those who do not know? Oklahoma State, Michigan State, Alabama the year they won the SEC. Southern Miss aint got nothing on LA. Tech and North Texas surely don't.

Nice grammar Cajun boy. What exactly has LT done in the past few years other than wallow in the middle of the pack in the WAC.

Guess this year you guys will break out since Rice, SMU, UTEP are gone and you now have the dregs of 1-A in your Great Conference. rolleyes.gif

It will all get settled on the field.

Baylor is the most recent "big" win in the past couple years. I know we've gone to Tex. Tech and beat them a couple times. Some NT fans affectionately call their stadium Fouts West. And lets not forget Cincy (then Co-Champs) of CUSA.

If winning games against the Big Boys has been such a panacea for La Tech, then (with all the momentum such wins surely must have given your school); anyway, because of your less than a handful of big time wins, when does La Tech open its new $7 million state-of-the-art Athletic Center; when do you all install that new Daktronics scoreboard/instant replay screen that all but swallows up most of one entire end zone; when does your school install "brand new" Field Turf or Omni-Grass on that natural grass field at J.A. Aillet Stadium; and when does LTU start talking about plans to have an indoor practice facility? rolleyes.gif

Surely those high profile wins would produce for your school at least one of the aforementioned, now wouldn't it? ph34r.gif

So do you want me or anyone on this board to tell you what the University of North Texas has been able to accomplish in athletic facilities since we have (somewhat) followed the Marshall U model of dominating a MAC-type conference? You want to know what that has done for NT, over the occasional flash-in-the-pan one hit wonder of a college football upset over Big Boy U? Then read the first paragraph of this post all over again and that will tell you exactly what NT has been able to add to its athletic coffers, specifically for football.

You asked a question- I will give you an answer. Last year was a terrible year for us OOC... the year beforwe was not so bad. We beat Troy by a score of 21-0 in 2003, before they were Sun Belt members. That was a solid OOC win in my book - they played .500 ball that year as an Indy (ended the season at 6-6) and beat the only two CUSA teams on their schedule (Marshall and UAB). The year before that they beat Miss State at their house. We didn't play Troy last year but we played every other SBC team and went through conference without a loss yet again - Troy lost two Sun Belt games. The Belt deserved the nickname, the Suck Belt, when it was a new conference made up of castaways from other conferences and indy land... but every team has gained momentum over the last four years and gotten better. We had the largest attendance jump (as a conference) then any other IA conference for last year and we passed up the MAC in the Sag Rankings (just missed catching CUSA as well)... Belt teams went 4-1 against the MAC last year with the only loss being to NIU in the bankrupt SVFC WAC bowl.

I think that all we have to do is look at common opponents from last season to predict this game. We both played UL - you beat them at home thanks to a last second play by a score of 24-20, we beat them on the road in front of a full (and rowdy) house on a Friday night ESPN game by the score of 27-17 (games was never even close though). Edge: North Texas. No other common opponets recently but you lost to MTSU the last time you played them (few years back) and we have never lost to them... You have also taken a dive in attendance - I believe that you only had about 7K show up for your last game in Shreveport against Tulsa thus forcing your administration to move all your games back to Ruston for this year.

When I think of La Tech; I think of the days when you guys had so much promise and potential. Those days are long gone now. Sure, you guys can ramble off about your 3 point victory over OSU or a one point win over the MSU Spartans; but even terrible teams can pull off the fluke wins. Just look at North Texas in the late 90's.... we were TERRIBLE and still managed to beat Texas Tech (twice) as well as Oregon State, Nevada (back when Nevada was really good), and had no problems with Boise State most of the time. Our team back then was just like Tech's team now - INCONSISTENT. And as bad as we were... we never lost to a IAA team; last I checked - Tech lost to Stephen F Austin (AT HOME!) a few years back - OUCH! The last three times we have played you, we have won. I don't expect that to change this year.

And before you give too much credit to the magazine that you are using (College Football News.com) - just notice that they have predicted that you will lose to friggin Idaho... hell, I hate Tech and have a soft spot for little old Idaho because we have been playing each other for so long - but even I am smart enough to know that you guys will demolish them - they absolutely suck. I wouldn't be quoting a source for one prediction when it is obvious that they have done absolutely ZERO research on the lower IA teams by preciting a Tech loss to Idaho.

Now run along and go play with HawgDog and DawgFood - they are missing you in 10th grade Basic Algebra class.

Also it's pretty sad that a school that has 30,000 students is in the Sun Belt.

Here's a button for you so everything that talks to you knows what they're dealing with.

Here's a few ways to ID someone who attends/attended Tech.

1. They take their dog for a walk and both use the same tree.

2. They can entertain themselves for more than an hour with a fly

swatter.

3. They think fast food is hitting a deer at 65 mph.

4. They come back from the dump with more than they took.

5. They keep a can of Raid on the kitchen table.

6. Their grandmother has "Ammo" on her Christmas list.

7. They think a subdivision is part of a math problem.

8. They bathe with flea and tick soap.

9. They think a quarter horse is that ride in front of K-Mart.

10. They may have missed 5th grade graduation because of jury duty.

I'm a Tech fan but that's pretty funny. Sounds like one of those Jeff Foxworthy redneck jokes. I'm not going to sit here and bash you guys. You have valid points about our football team over the past few years. There was a time when we were really really good, and that is definitely not including the past 3 or 4 years. Ya'll may have a lack of OOC success right now, but you do at least whip that lowsy conference every single year. I think you're going to maybe win some more games in the future if interest stays high enough over there, I like you guys. Just don't be @$$holes about this year's game. I still predict us over you guys, but I'll say perhaps it'll be a battle, because I know your team will be up for it like crazy and you do have some good RBs. I don't buy the idea that they'll "run all over us" by any means, but they will shine somewhat. Obviously they'll need to this year because they've got the offense on their shoulders. We seriously have an insanely better team this year than the past few IMHO.. but really, who knows?? I'm predicting an awesome year for us, but the smack is just getting stupid now... just bring your tortillas and tickets and as many fans as you can to Ruston, I'm looking forward to it.

Come on now Ktulu7, smack is very therapeutic for all of us. It can get ugly when some want to bring it to a personal level, but this is all about our respective alma maters and all 119 NCAA D1-A schools are always much better in July than they sometimes prove to be in November or December.

This is all harmless stuff and you'd find most anyone from this board or your own BB & B's would help anyone in distress no matter what school they attended. So in that regard, I guess one might say:

Our barks are bigger than our bytes? rolleyes.gif
