That is what happens when you play a Rose Bowl Champion in their house, for the first game of the season.

Then you add in the fact half our team seemed as if they were first time starters.

No fault on the staff, players, etc.  I don't care what crazy ideas anyone else has on how it should have been netter than that.  It would have been the same had we played Michigan, USC, Auburn, or any of the other schools that went to a BCS game.

For the UT game last year, one must also consider that we had an entire coaching staff and football team who were still in a genuine stage of shock over the sudden and tragic loss of Andrew Smith just days earlier. Not saying that that was the reason for the big loss, but we are talking about a bunch of young men many of whom had most likely in their young lives not had anyone as close to them as Andrew was pass away.

Listening to Coach Dickey talk on the subject of the loss of Andrew Smith on the latest MG football highlight DVD; anyway, that funeral down in Bay City must have been a very, very emotional one for both coaches and players. Few of us really knew Andrew and maybe had only met him a couple of times, but I cannot ever forget how members of this message board were more than just a tad in shock over his tragic loss.

First of all, your game with the MUTS doesn't matter because Troy is going to beat the bejesus out of them again this year in The Gallery. The Paladium stays in Troy. Mean Green, you beat Troy, you go to New Orleans. Simple as that. Heck, you all know the MUTS will lose at least one more conference game besides Troy just on their poor coaching alone.

Second of all, you want to talk about getting hosed on the SBC schedule? Troy only has 3 home conference games (most of the teams have 4) and 2 of them are against the weakest and newest members (FAU and FIU) in the Belt. The three home conference games Troy has would also have been the three closest games to travel to for our fans and alumni base (MTSU, FAU, FIU).

All of your Saturday's don't matter this year... it's your Tuesday that counts!

We better play LSU to win.... none of this prepare for the game after bullcrap.  Winners don't do that.  We can't afford to lose another game like we did at Texas last yr.... losing big at LSU will lose more fans in comparison to a win against MTSU that would create very little excitement.  Playing LSU close would open a lot of eyes around the nation.

Amen to that! We are "winners" and we go into Baton Rouge playing to "win." We don't play to win and we'll get some players hurt and still lose home fans at Fouts. It IS TIME to make a statement that we're going down to LSU to give them the scare of their Tiger lives.
