C'mon Joey please take care of bidness.  We need ya hoss!  Anyone heard how his Summer School is going?

The National Privacy Act will probably keep us from knowing about J. Byerly's grades unless he, a family member or someone from NT Athletics post on this board for us to "Think Meager." ohmy.gif

Yet we all hope Joey gets his grades first for himself, secondly for NT.

PEACEFUL, EASY FEELING: With the way our NT coaches handled the great Andrew Smith (then a frosh) after Scottie Hall went down at DKR Memorial Stadium in Austin, I am just not worried about who the Mean Green QB is because of the offense that Coach Dickey runs at NORTH TEXAS. cool.gif

Is this privacy act something new ? Last year when May and the others were declared ineligible because of grades it was in the Dallas Morning News.

I'm sure though that was after the Athletic Department relased the information that those players weren't going to be eligable. Granted the grades themselves won't be known, but eligability will.

----Don't complain... the first 30+ years I was an alum there weren't ANY Bowl games. [ even though we deserved 2-3 ] You give a kid a piece of cake and then he wants the entire cake...... patience.....we are getting there.

O-N-E since you gotta ask. How long had it been since we'd been in a bowl game when we went in '01 ? Look it up.

See separate post for NT's bowl record and play off record. Its as bad as our non conference record

Hey...not a knock...we both want NT to win some of these non conference games as well as bowl game.

Nothing on Byerly's status but I would like to announce that Lee Jackson has FFR's full, unconditional support for his run at the U.S. House of Represenatives next go round.

My inside sources have informed me that Byerly will not be elgible for the fall. Apperantly,he did not do so well in his summer school classes and did not pass enough hours for the year. Im pretty sure this is good info, but im not sure if the athletic department has any tricks left up their sleeve to get him elgible.

It's a darn shame. He had the QB position all to himself. Hopefully, he can get his grades in order and return to help us next year.

I think it's awesome that Summer I exams just ended less than two days ago and yet a bunch of noobs have "sources" that say that a football player in ineligible.... How the hell do you find that out??? Hell I never even knew MY grades that fast in school.

Byerly will not be eligible for the fall. You can dream all you want but it will not change (unless some inside pull from the athletic dept., but we all know our athletic dept has no pull). Let's just hope someone steps up and really surprises us!!!

      I think that's his point. If you put more money into basketball, i.e. NIL, you attract better coaching/talent. It just seems it might be a better ROI when you have 5-7 players you have to pay versus the numerous ones you would have to pay in football.

      Memphis beating #16 Ole Miss the other day was huge for them. If we somehow can pull that win off along with the UAB win, we might be able to get some votes...

      I like this perspective. I feel like losing to a SBC team might be something that could hurt though. Although, to your point, not sure anyone will ever remember. For the people we really want to come to games, I think it does though. The casual college football fan barely even knows we exist. I think this game does more for NT fans we want to come see this team, but might not feel like it is worth it because they don't trust they can win.

      Uniforms

      Please don’t let them look anything like TCU or Iowa St. in their bowl games. Iowa St, whose colors are red and yellow, had on uniforms with neither of those colors. And TCU…just hideous from head to toe.

      Would You Really Rather Talk NIL/Transfer Portal

      I’ve watched way too many bowl games this year, so I’ll share my perspective as a football fan watching a game between two teams with whom I have no connection. 1. For the most part, I have no idea who’s skipping the game and I don’t necessarily care, though missing the starting QB carries much more weight than any other position. (I’m speaking to bowl games in general, not ours) 2. You say the games are meaningless, and I don’t disagree as it relates to each individual team, but…see #3. 3. The games are not meaningless as they relate to conference affiliation. The AAC being 6-1 makes a statement, as does the ACC being 1-9. I also think it says something that the mighty SEC is only 4-3 so far. If they are the dominant conference they are made out to be, they should be winning at least 75% of their bowl games, and they certainly shouldn’t be losing to G-5’s. 4. At the end of the day, nobody except UNT and TXSt fans are going to remember who won or by how much, or who had more players in the portal. They’ll just remember if it was a good game. I don’t think any more or less of any team I watched this bowl season, but I can tell you which games were good.
