Most Important Names in NT Football history

Recommended Posts

A very important "name" in UNT's football history is:

Coach Odus Mitchell 1946-1966,

winningest coach in NT history (122-85-9),

broke the color barrier in 1956 leading the way for black players to be able to  participate in Texas college football.

And one of the nicest men you could ever want to meet. I grew up with his grandchildren and to this day remember Coach Mitchell riding around the old golf course in his gas cart with the fringe around the roof.
