Overall I would have to say Cody Spencer. That guy always played with heart and for the love of the game. He was a tough player that was a great leader not only for the defense but for the whole team. A classy guy that gave 110% on and off the field. No doubt in my mind that he is truly one of a kind!

I've seen many, Lance White, Byron Gross, Cody Spencer, Burks Washington, although I was pretty young, but I personally have always liked the way Brad Kassell and Chris Hurd played the game. Both were smart on the field and rarely out of position, had more hustle and heart than pure skill and never gave up. Just good football players.

Burks Washington, a great college linebacker who played at NT in the mid 1970's.

I remember Burks, one of last year's NT Sports Hall of Fame inductees, having some pretty good games against the likes of Tennessee (an NT win), UH (an NT win), SMU (an NT win), etc, etc, etc.

Everyone listed in all the aformentioned posts were pretty darn good, though. 2 of them presently being in the NFL sorta' proves that point.

Byron Gross was awesome. I had a picture of him in his linebacker stance with those cold-as-steel eyes looking through his facemask. Glad I wasn’t a running back that had to play against Byron. He was a great football player and a heck of a nice guy.
