Did anyone watch or bet on the Derby this year? I took a beating. All of the favorites seemed to be liked by too many people and hadn't raced in a field this big, so I stayed away from them. I ended up betting on Bandini, Greater Good, and Greeley's Galaxy. A lot of good that did me. <_< It was a fabulous race in my eyes. Closing Argument was 3 and 4 wide all the way around the track, yet still had enough in his tank to get up to second. Giacomo's win was sort of ironic. His Sire, I believe, was Holy Bull. Holy Bull was beat by a Zito trained horse in the Derby years back and Giacomo was able to beat 5 Zito horses. Everything comes full circle. I thoroughly enjoyed this race and can't wait for the Preakness in two weeks to see if Giacomo can continue his winnings.

Lately their haven't been large fields in Pimlico, but I don't think Giacomo will scare anyone away. Bellamy Road got caught up in the suicidal pace and didn't have anything left for the stretch. I really thought Afleet Alex would win that race with about a furlong to go.

Unless another super fast pace sets up I don't expect Giacomo to win the Preakness Stakes. Think he'll be tough in the Belmont. They don't breed horses to go 12 furlongs anymore, but he seems made for the distance. My EARLY prediction is he finishes off the board in Maryland but wins the Test of the Champion.

i neve expected such a pace, but thought Zito had atleast one horse, my money on Bellamy to break, but no horse did which gave Giacomo a great postion. I lost a bit, but I bet with variety including Tri, Super and a long shot Exacta... all to lose... only later to be pulled over by the PoPo's... bad day for me... Oh well, the Santa Anita, LoneStar and Belmont will still be fine for the rest of the season
