I am illiterate, esecially when it comes to things like photshop. Can someone please put together some helmet possibilities based on the new logos and wordmarks? Deepgreen, AustinTalon, anyone?

RV told me the eagle will NOT be on the helmets, but it will be a version of "North Texas" or "Mean Green." He also said that the eagle could be incorporated into the stadium somehow though.

Instead of going with a recognizeable logo on our helmets, we're going to go with indiscriminate text again? Wow.

I always thought we should be called the North Texas Talons. The 2nd logo with the "North Texas" in the grip of the talon would look good on a helmet.

The eagle, as it looks in ipEAGLE's sig line, looks pretty decent. It looked horrible on the hat. I think the stiching makes it look pretty bad. It will pretty good on screen printed shirts etc...

rick told me that the helmet color would probably stay the same. The script would be gone and would be replaced with one of the new wordmarks.

He didn't seem giddy, but somewhat resigned to accept what was given us.

I told him we were glad he was here.

I expect we'll see a version of the "stacked" North Texas on the helmet, with no eagle. They are still concerned nobody knows who they are playing or watching. <_

The helmet I saw some months back had the North Texas side by side with the new font. It did not look that great.

(Let me state, I saw this helmet by accident)

We're the Mean Green and the Eagles.  I don't see why that is so hard to grasp.

The current AD only wants to push Mean Green because of it's uniqueness. I don't see why that is so hard to grasp.

An eagle will not be on our helmet.

The nickname "Mean Green" is unique, but going from now to eternity with no recognizeable logo isn't. Writing "North Texas" or "Mean Green" on the helmet, field, court, etc is so bland and uninteresting...I don't see why anyone would be in favor of that. Anyone with even the most basic understanding of marketing knows that people will identify with a graphic much faster than they identify with text.

i know we are the mean green, and i am on board with that...but those black helmets with the green eagle are very cool. Would be nice to see them once or twice a year.

I'm just picturing that with a black and green uni, what an intimidating look.

Gak is right. As big a fan of the script as I have been, the new eagle head would be better in my book. It's really growing on me.

I am gonna side with Cerebus on this one. OU and TT are my two examples - graphic representations of text. However......................I haven't seen us come up with one of these great 2 letter marks so I suppose just North Texas in Times New Roman will have to do.

i have to agree with (gak) on this one too. I have never cared for the North Texas script on the helments. I think we need a logo instead script. We got away with it (logos) for years and it appears that the flying worm is a classic logo. I would like to see the eagle logo on the helments. It just looks more like a football helment.

Whatever we do I would like to see us go with a logo and make it permenant instead of changing it every five or six years. I think this is a big reason why people don't recognize us when they see us on tv. Because, we have continuously changed our logos and have not stuck with a steady logo.

I can't believe I'm going to this much effort to prove my point, but here goes...

How many of these can you instantly recognize? And more importantly, what do you think of when you see them? Having a graphic is more than just trying to be recognizeable, it also gives an identity to a school, a company, or whatever. When I see a yellow price tag, I think of Best Buy and then electronics. When I see a helmet with yellow lines running from front to back, I think Michigan, and I think Big Ten football and even Ohio State. When I see a kid fishing from a moon, I think movies, and then I'm about to see something good.

Believe me, companies invest millions of dollars into branding. They want you to feel an emotional connection with their company and their product, and logos are the primary focus in developing that. As far as your example, the only well known school that you listed that spells their name out is Illinois. The rest are using abbreviations, or aren't as popular as you seem to think they are (seriously...louisiana-lafayette, Idaho and ohio?? laugh.gif ).

      Is this what an “offensive genius” looks like?

      The defense was disastrous last night but stop with this "offense did enough to win" crap. A 3 and out and interception in the first 2 drives is not doing enough to win. Were it not for a defensive stop after the onside kick and a Porter 79 yard run, we'd have been down 21-0 and counting. Yes, the defense needs to do more but what high powered offense puts up 7 in a half? This team did the same crap last year. No offense in the first half and then when we put up garbage time points people say "look at the offense." The offense is bordering bad. Tulsa put up 46 on UTSA. Texas State put up 49 and even Rice put up 29. Just to show you where our "high powered offense" stands.

      Atrocious in "all 3 phases" (that onside kick was a film study discovery by UTSA) but E Morris is just a horrible game manager. Just stupid decisions on multiple levels. I wish we weren't in the bowl hunt so Caponi could be fired if at least as a symbolic action to show the rest of the staff (minus Cobbs) they need to step it up a bunch. To the decision making, it's all been said. The timeout at 2nd and 16 with 49 seconds to go when most offenses would just let the clock run out to close the half, not taking reasonable field goal attempts early on, poor playcalling (honestly surprised a screen didn't get intercepted), these things fall on Eric Morris. Just garbage level game management. It's like he's playing a video game where there's no real consequences. Time of possession was about 39 to 21 in UTSA's favor. I know Porter had huge runs but UTSA also had huge plays. Why is it that others are capable of sustaining drives and eating clock but our "elite" offense can't do so? Defenses aside, you'd think our supposed top notch offense could be more consistent. I know our defense needs to make stops more consistently but anybody please tell me why our offense isn't capable of having some 6 or 7 minute scoring drives? Morris needs to relax on the pace of game. Just idiotic at this point.
