Alabama assistant Orlando Early has been chosen as the new coach at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, according to a school official.

Early was chosen over Cincinnati assistant Andy Kennedy and UAB assistant Scott Edgar, according to an email from UL-Monroe media relations director Judy Willson.

Early, who was an assistant at Charlotte before joining Mark Gottfried's staff at Alabama in 2001, will be introduced as Mike Vining's replacement on Monday. Vining resigned in March with a 401-303 record in 24 years at his alma mater.
