A good pep band will get me more excited about a game than whatever top 40 song they wanna throw over the PA. Like I said earlier this is something that a lot of schools are infected with with how. I've been to a few UCLA basketball games here and there over the years and there was a much better atmosphere when their pep band was playing during the various timeouts than nowadays when some random rock song and/or promotion takes up the entire media timeout.
But with a better defense, he may not feel like he needs to be that risky. He knew they needed to score often to stand a chance at winning these games.
