This is in regards to you attacks on FFR. I am in now way trying to attack either of you and dont wat this to turn into a personal battle.

I understand you concern of attendance at basketball games, but for the life of me cannot understand what you have attacked alumni. If you knew anything about NT athletics you would know that the Valentines day attendance for B-Ball was greater than the 2001 NM State football game attendance. People want to see winners, until then overall attendance will be low for basketball. FOOTBALL is king in Texas, there will always be greater attendance for football than basketball and that is a fact.

Coach, I know that you desire to enter the profession. If you get into coaching at any varsity level you will have to kiss the NT days good by. There is little to no extra time for you to support anyone other than your school.

As for FFR he has and will continue to do more for this university than anyone else is willing to do. You can say what you want but think about it and maybe you will understand.

You are lucky, my lunch is about over now and it's back to main idea cards and TAKS practice stories...good times.

I looked back over the thread, and not only do I feel I did not attack him, I don't even know what we disagree about.

I want NT to have as many people at the basketball games as possible, and I believe it has to start with the members of this board. The AD has dropped the ball on promotion, the students are apathetic, we are all that is left.

Does anyone actually disagree with this?

Anyway, I know that my time for NT will cut severly, but I will still buy season tickets for basketball and have them in the hands of people that can go on the nights I can't.

I'm not happy about, but it's all I will be able to do, and as both FFR and I have said, that's all anyone can ask (and that's all I have been asking anyone). Then someday if the state will stop pushing back the retirement number and I get my 3 year average up, my life can be NT sports.

BTW, the 2001 NMSU football game was in Las Cruces, the Miracle in the Desert. I was there for that, and it was awesome. I assume you meant the 2000 at Fouts?

If anyone doesn't like what I have said then they can come to any NT mens home basketball game and tell me about it.

I guess e-bone is willing to sacrifice his health in order to get one more person out to a basketball game. laugh.gif

Since the video, BBQ, and meeting is all on the 26th, then I assume everyone who goes to that can make it to the regular season finale that night at the Super Pit and we can make up for Monday's number.

It's all green and all good.

You DO know who OGG is, don't you? If so, then you must be one bad mofo. If not, then I wouldn't invite him to tell you what he thinks. That could be bad for your medical insurance.

BTW:

That is him in his avatar. ohmy.gif

Sorry, you are correct about the date, it was 2000. Winning will cure just about everything.

Word of advice for coach....look around and notice that people who bitch and yell really have nothing worth saying. Let them talk all they want.

You are right about that.

I think you should visit the basketball board more often, OGG. You can be like a crossover star bringing fans to a new kind of music. Maybe some will make it out to a game or two after reading about the team and the kind of rabid fans they have.

Now, we can move our focus to the big game tomorrow night? Denver is in first place and the game will be on ESPN Regional. I hope everyone who can will be there, the team would appreciate your support.

Well that's an argument that could go on all day, but it takes heart guts and dedication to do anything well, including any sport.

The one difference between football and basketball (and this isn't true across the board due to the wide variations in football positions) is that typically football uses mostly gross motor skills and basketball fine motor skills. Of course there are exceptions, like comparing the fine motor skills of say Jerry Rice to Shaq, but you get the idea.

If you want to talk about the toughest sport that takes the most guts and heart...any track event from 800 meters up. You gotta let em hang real low to succeed in those events.

JayDub, listen up.

Sadly, this is what it takes to bring people to the basketball board, fabricating attacks on alumni and bringing in a former player to lay down the law.

But hey, while they are here...there is a game Thursday night at home vs. Denver who is in first place, and the game will be on ESPN Regional. The team would appreciate your support.

Unlike others on this board I'm not for threatening people or challenging them to a fight. Especially people who are 3 times my size wink.gif . I'm also not for calling others liars when I disagree with what they say. I literally meant what I said, if anyone has a problem with what I have said then let me know and we can talk about it at a basketball game. If that brings someone out who wouldn't normally come to a game then I have done what I have set out to do. To go along with that, if you are just going to sit at home on your computer and bitch at those of us who are trying to get things done, then just go back to the football board with your buds and have more exciting conversations about the logo, stadium, or any of the other dead horses that get beat on a daily basis over there.

We could promote it as "Pack The Pit" night ! Since nobody in our promotions department, if one exists, was around when it was used many years ago they might think it's a new idea. huh.gif Regardless of that, I will be there. I only hope the outcome is better than last Saturdays heartbreaker. I nearly took out the "dress blues." blink.gif

Amazingly I have had the same shocked and gawking look on my face since Winchester banked in that shot. Needless to say, it has caused some double-takes at school and freaked out my students a little.

My cousin has a "I helped Pack the Pit" t-shirt from a while back with an upside down Mustang on the back. I've always thought something like that would be cool. I know MeanGreenQueen spearheaded a t-shirt production for the La-La game in 2002, so maybe Talons could repeat history for this finale?

I don't think we have a promotion department either. There could have been lots of cool things going on for Monday with the holiday, as well as countless other ideas (like the one you had) that could work throughout the season.

I know, out of 31,000 students, only 54 did not have a hot date or work Monday.  Our students are really big on the dating scene!

Monday is one of the days that many students take a night class. I know I missed the game on Monday not because I had this hot date or had to go to work. But I was in ACCT 5320 taking notes. Yes, many students don't like basketball but their are other reasons why people didn't show up on Monday.

Trust me Debbie, I've heard a different reason for every empty Super Pit seat. Nobody will blame you for that, you had class. But what FFR said and I agree with and have been trying to emphasize is doing what you can when you can. I see you at games all the time and you had class Monday night, you are the last person I am worried about. I am worried about our school's biggest supporters that don't think a basketball game is worthy of their time or 8 bucks on a Saturday evening.

It's all green and it's all good!
