Fading fast.

Now 2-3, and going on the road.....things aren't looking very good.

I guess those wins we were racking up in the first half of the year, were over bigger cupcakes than we realized. Because now that we're into conference.....we haven't really played a good game yet.

The difference in the game was rebounding. We out rebounded ASU 20-10 in the first half, and they out rebounded us 26-15 in the second half. Against UALR and in the second half tonight we just did not block out underneath the basket and let the opposing team have 2nd and 3rd chances, which will beat you faster than just about anything else. Too often our guys stand around watching the shot while they should be putting a butt on someone, and that doesn't just go for the posts either.

How was attendance?

It was good. It is disappointing that we blew that game with as good a crowd that we had.

Debbie, I don't think the 5 position was the problem tonight. Simpson has been playing well, got the start tonight and responded with a career high in points.

The biggest problem was rebounding on the defensive end. The final difference was three points, and if the ASU second chance shots hade been cut in half, that probably puts North Texas over the top. That burden does not fall soley on the 5 either, the team as a WHOLE needs to block out. The rebounds that killed us were by 6'5, 6'7 guys. They got the big boards because they had position and they wanted it.

The good news is that Watson got back on track for a while, and Hopkins and Simpson pitched in with the scoring.

SUMG, I don't think the early success had to do with competition. The team does not have the confidence in the full court diamond, and more importantly shooting the ball. Watson has been too streaky, Mike Jones has disappeared, and Sturns has had his confidence shattered.

They need to get things straightend out or what was once a promising season will end up being a big "what if?"

North Texas played pretty well and had a 9 point lead at the half.

WHO WERE THOSE GUYS IN THE WHITE SHIRTS IN THE SECOND HALF AND WHAT DID THEY DO WITH THE UNT BASKETBALL TEAM?

Do we need to put in a police report for missing persons...12 UNT BB players missing since halftime of the game Saturday?

UNT even survived a comeback by ASU, got on a run themselves to extend the lead to 10, then just cratered.

I was not happy. sad.gifmad.gif
