Well, unfortunately the Tycoons have suffered their first loss of the season. The team is now 6-1 after a loss to the Arkansas Rimrockers last night. Although the Tycoons shot 45% from the field and 77% from the free throw line, the Rimrockers acted like our Coliseum was their home gym!! They shot 60% from the field and 54% from the 3 pt. line to beat the Tycoons 132-105 wink.gif (yeah, I know).

For the Tycoons: Jabari Johnson had 19 points and 5 assists, Deron Rutledge had 17 points, Chris Davis 15 and Ed Williams 14. With a better defensive effort and better inside play this could have been a totally different game. We let Arkansas get hot and couldn't bounce back.

For Arkansas: Scotty Thurman had way too many open looks. He was 6-10 from the 3 pt. line (10-16 overall) and ended the night with 29 points (he had 25 at halftime). Daryan Selvy (OU) contributed 16 points in the first half but ended the night with only 17. Shawnson Johnson performed well inside, with 16 points and 12 rebounds. He looked really good. Other top scorers for Arkansas were Marco Cole who had 16 and Kareem Reid and George Gervin, Jr., who had 14 each.

Our next three home games are Thursday, Dec. 16th against Baton Rouge and Dec. 21st and 23rd against Kansas City. Fortunately, we get to see Arkansas again in Arkansas on December 28th and back here on January 3rd. Revenge is so sweet.......

As always, please let me know if you'd like to make it out to a game. The guys are on the road Friday and Sunday against Motown and Kentucky. They should come back 8-1. Motown is led by guard Jimmy King ("Fab Five") and Kentucky's stars include Anthony Epps (UK's '96 national championship team) and Antwain Barbour (also from UK).

Transaction:

The Tycoons signed nine-year NBA veteran and former Southwest High School standout Oliver Miller today. Miller signed a one-year deal that allows any NBA team to purchase his contract at any time.

Are meals included in the contract? biggrin.gif

Sounds like a pretty serious league you guys have forming up there. I hope to make it to a game in January. Perhaps the Jan 3rd game if there isn't a Mean Green home game that night.

That is funny but I guess I'm not supposed to laugh. I just finished reading about that.

There is no Mean Green game Jan. 3rd so that would be a good one to come to, especially since we play Arkansas. The guys would love to see some North Texas people in the stands. Let me know.

Oliver Miller played at a little pro-am tournament at the golf course I work at a few months ago, and let me tell you he is big. However, he did not seem as big as I remember him being in the NBA. Granted he was wearing golf clothes and not a basketball uniform.

Yes, he is big. That's what we need!! I don't think he's as big as he was either but you guys would probably know better than me. I'm just looking forward to seeing him on the court. He should help us.
