Its not a bad loss. Good experience for the girls. Its tough to play on the road as it is, but against the #1 team in the nation and in Baton Rouge thats really tough. It shows they are not a top 25 team yet but they are definately improiving each year.

Also good experience in that they have another Top 10 team coming to Denton in 2 weeks with the Texas women's team coming in on the 16th.

LSU players and coach not happy in win

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaw/recap?gid=200411300319

``It's good we won and good we're undefeated, but us winning and being undefeated is not going to get us where we want to go with the schedule we have,'' Temeka Johnson said. ``It's good for us to win and come out ahead, but if we're not executing the way we're capable of executing, it doesn't mean anything.''

LSU's offense was the problem, Chatman said.

North Texas came in and took us out of our half-court offense and that's something we pride ourselves in,'' Chatman said. ``We had a lot of spurts, some good spurts, but not a lot of offensive execution.''

The Tigers hit a rough stretch opening the second half, scoring only one basket in the first six minutes. North Texas cut LSU's lead to 13 before Johnson hit a layup to make it 47-32. It was the closest the Mean Green would come.

Holding the #1 team in the nation to 1 basket in 6 minutes is an incredible feat. We made them have to play their starters almost the entire game. We gave them a scare an proved we should be able to pull an upset this year if we can play our game the entire game.

I am proud of the progress that the womens team has made under Coach Slaker over the past few years.

That is definitely a good loss to be proud of. Anytime you can play a nationally ranked team and either upset their rythym or avoid getting blown out is something to be proud of.

I know that doesn't sound good, but I am extremely proud of that score, and the players and coaches should be proud of that also. I think that it clearly demonstrates #1; the pride of our players, and #2; the determination to "play to win" at every level of competition. There are a lot of teams that would literally lay down and let a team like that just blow them out 115-48 or something similar.

The team that we have today is very capable of playing good teams like this VERY competitively, and are VERY capable of producing an upset in the near future.

Way to go ladies, we're proud of you!!! biggrin.gif
