The official rite of basketball season at NT

I knew it was officially basketball season tonight as the familiar sounds of "Space Jam" emanated throughout the Super Pit. An underrated moment in the life of a North Texas hoops fan.

I liked some things I saw tonight.

Michael Sturns is the real deal. 22 points, an all-around game, he's got the build and demeanor, he will be special. I especially liked the way he played point guard (was Mitchell hurt or seriously in the dog house?) because I was worried about the depth behind Hines. I feel better about it now.

The diamond 1-2-1-1 press was fun to watch, and effective. It still needs work, but I would like to see this giving opponents fits for stretches of games this year. It also really changed the tempo of the game to our favor.

Hines looks like he is already the leader of this team, which is a good sign.

The post play was inconsistent from all players. As that becomes improved, so does level of play this team can attain.

I am very excited about this season.

As am I. Realistically, we'll probably be slightly better than last year. Of course I want a 20(or more) win season.

It just so happens that the Gettin Jiggy With It was played during a time out(or half time), to which the dancers danced to.

We also were privileged enough to hear the "I like to move it, move it" song not once, but twice!
