interesting how they don't have Leonard Hopkins on their preseason first or second all conference teams, especially when most of the other previews I have seen have had Hopkins on one of them.

All Barnett has to do is average 7 points and 5 rebounds to double his output in both statistics from last season, so it won't take much for him to break out, pretty much just stay healthy. I think they put him on that because they saw the output from ShoJo last year, and see that Barnett is the projected starter in his place. It goes along with the theory that they really don't have a good idea about North Texas other than looking at a stat sheet and the returning starters.

Matt, that stuck out the most to me too when I looked at it. Between leaving off Hopkins and saying that Hines is "reportedly" a talent makes me think that they just BSed their way through most of that preview...they are to be considered college basketball experts and have never seen him play, looked at his stats, or looked at his ranking out of high school, he is just "reportedly" a talent? That's pretty weak.

I went to practice yesterday and I think we are in for a good year. Isaac Hines is the real deal. Barnett is lot bigger (bulk) and the team is really playing as a team. Johnny really runs a good practice. Keep the faith...we'll be in the thick of the conference tournament. Oh, Hopkins looks very healthy, too.

The keys to the season to me are Hines staying healthy and out of foul trouble, and a big man emerging.

We should have a decent defense, not the best but doable, we have more than enough shooting, and we have a go to guy and star. We need a big guy to alter shots on defense, rebound the ball, and be some sort of threat on the offensive end. That could be Barnett or even Simpson. Hines has to stay out on the court because I don't think Jones trusts Mitchell bringing the ball up against any pressure for an extended amount of time. If those two things happen, we will finish better than many expect.
