Red Sox vs. Cardinals

I think it will be a fun series to watch. I will pick the Cardinals in 7 and the MVP will be Edgar Renteria.

I think we might see a couple home runs this series.

It's an interesting matchup. I think the Cards statistically should pull it out. They won over the Sox in '89? in 7 last time the Sox made it to the Series. However, I think it's possible for Boston to win this one - in 7 - with their amazing come from behind trounce of the Yankees. It's just nice to see the stupid Yankees out of the playoffs.

Of course, I'd also like Boston to win just so we don't have to listen to any more drivel about the "Curse of the Bambino."

I think the projected rotation for Boston will be Wakefield, Shilling, and then Pedro. Of course, if Pedro cant' keep his emotions together, he won't make it past the 3rd inning agains St. Louis. I was very disappointed in Pedro during the Yankees series.

You mean 1986 when we lost to the Mets? wink.gif

When it's your team, it ain't drivel tongue.gif The comeback gives me some hope, but something tells me we just can't win.

Pedro rarely pitches well against NY. I expect him to be at his very best vs St. Louis. We have Lowe up in Game 4, so our rotation looks good on paper.

The Cardinals lineup is just so good though. Pujols, Edmonds, Walker, Renteria, that is serious firepower. The Red Sox has almost as good an offense themselves which is why I think there will be more than a few runs scored.

In the end I think that the Red Sox bullpen vs. the Cards lineup will the deciding matchup.

Great effort by the Astros...that was a heck of a run they went on at the end of the season. I'm a long time Cards fan though (my favorite player as a kid was Vince Coleman laugh.gif ), and I want them to pull this one out. Stl in 7.

Red Sox win game one 11-9. Bellhorn's homer wins it after Manny let STL back in it with his less than gold glove ability in left.

When I saw the Red Sox play the Rockies in Denver this year, there was a play where Manny came out of nowhere and slid in front of Damon who was about to routinely field a grounder. He booted the ball and it cost them. The Rockie fans let him have it, it was pretty funny. He is an adventure to watch out there, no doubt.

I said this and I think I just heard Pujols, Rolen, Renteria, and Edmonds are 1 for 35 in the series and the 1 is a bunt by Edmonds. With that production out of those guys, they didn't have a chance.
