Just looking at the caliber of recruits DaNiyal is landing I have major concerns.

Very underwhelming at this point, and I doubt it gets better.

Obviously, I hope it improves; but I can't believe some of the players that he has been reported to be recruiting.  Based on stats, they should not be close to a AAC roster.

He has valid reasons of concern. Horizon rosters won't compete in this conference. However, still ample time for Coach.

I may be high but you gotta figure that Arnett and Stevenson are the only two Cleveland State guys that see big minutes next season. Both look like AAC calibre players to me. Especially current AAC that’s been decimated by the portal.

I do think there’s something to be said for having a nucleus coming with Coach Robinson that he can trust to instill his team culture, system, and have played together before. In this day and age, even a level of imported roster continuity is bound to be a good thing.

Like the UTEP kid we picked up. And as you said, still plenty of time to add more significant pieces - like we did last year. Plenty of great talent out there looking for a home.

Lots of DFW area players wanting to come home too...

I would hold off until we see everybody in Denton.

I do have clear memory of Benford year 1.

It doesn't have to be that way.  If things look ugly on the court, if we look lucky to hit 10 wins, have a plan in place.  Don't dwell on a bad hire for multiple seasons.

I’m in the percentile that actually believes we will be okay. Wouldn’t expect much more than .500 ball year 1 and that’s okay too. We are loading up on young guys with eligibility remaining. If we retain 50% of the roster this time next year, year 2 could be special with a returning nucleus who trusts Robinson. I see too many panic buttons already. And stop acting like the Horizon league is Wayland Baptist or Houston Christian please. Cleveland state could’ve beaten our team this year depending on the night and especially with an offensive drought everyone loves to bring up haha. We will be fine. GMG

Why? Every team is in the same predicament as us...

This is a rebuilding project period.  It will take a couple of years to build his program.

Considering the landscape pretty wild thing to say.... every off-season is "rebuilding project period" for almost every program.

It is very possible that we have fewer wins next year but that’s ok. Plenty of wins last season but how many in big games? No Tier 1 wins got us into the NIT, just like the two seasons before. Can likely do that also with 17-18 wins. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I would consider beating a Big 10 team and a Big 12 team on the road to be significant wins for our program. (Plus a win over former PAC team).
Been a very long time since our football team has done anything like that and will likely not happen again in football for a very long while.
A standard has been set for the basketball program of 20+ wins, conference contention and postseason success. Really want to maintain that.

Totally agree.  I have been following both football and basketball for a long time here and football just cannot touch what we have done in basketball the past 7-8 seasons.
